The vote was 54-45. There were cheers and applause on the Senate floor. US Sen. James Lankford was the presiding officer when the vote was announced.

The US Senate has confirmed Sen. Markwayne Mullin's appointment to become President Donald Trump's new secretary of homeland security. He is scheduled to assume those duties April 1. Gov. Kevin Stitt will hold a press conference Tuesday morning to announce his interim appointee.

Spring starts Friday but it will feel like summer. Coincidentally, several of the record highs for the next few days date back to 1907, the year Oklahoma became a state. I'm sure that will make us all feel better when we get in our hot cars.....
