Alright, today I just heard Sun had implemented the container named Sun Zones before Linux kernel namespace, cgroup and scomp+ebpf.

The application level software is becoming cheap unless you have a proven business loop. The infra becomes more valuable today.

Claude has serious over-engineering issues, fortunately, she admits quickly if you are able to point it out. Good girl.

Before AI can rewrite entire COBOL systems, we shouldn’t place too much hope in it. Even at the application level, there have been few truly successful cases beyond selling tools.

oh, my! I thought the almighty Claude is strong enough to not make it wrong for mature concepts. But I was wrong. Fortunately, I'm the project author, and I'm so sure what I had designed.

A morning email invited me to join GISEC North Star in .... Dubai... Though I'm interested, I wonder who is brave enough to go to Dubai recently...

@R0yMu It doesn't right now, but I should totally add that. Adding local LLM support and then Gemini and Grok are on the todo list

Exactly! The doas(1) is 4578 total LoC. The sudo(8) is 638434 total LoC. The sudo-rs(8) is 176181 total LoC with new bugs and security issues introduced because of Rust rewrite.

@vermaden ...or just reduce the attack surface, just like doas does it.

The first tinybox has arrived to the HK office. Having never received one before, I must say the shipping team did an excellent job on packaging. Feels very premium!

@__tinygrad__ Congrats 🎉 Is there a regular LAN party? I may go back to Shenzhen after March. I'm familiar with HK. I'm interested in contributing patches, but no AMD card on hand for now.

@filpizlo @zuhaitz_dev I think the definition of low level should be "how easy to interact and compliant with the hardware". These system languages are close to the current CPU design. But if we change the CPU to Lisp machine, Lisp becomes assembly. It's system language, and C/C++ becomes high level.

Rust is a systems programming language. C++ is a systems programming language. C is a systems programming language. None are low level. Now, it is true that, after years, decades, the low level bar has increased. For a React developer these languages are low level. I could understand classifying these as mid-level, mainly C, but that's pretty much it.

@filpizlo Well, as a compiler extension, maybe the future way is to just provide safe JIT inside. And provide a unified IR layer, this could be compliant with LLVM. If Fil-C decides to go for real safety, it has to be safe in a row with the whole compiler infra.
