@AqilSzn I always recommend everyone take the last 10 days off work. If someone isn’t able to then personally I’d just firm the lack of sleep for those 10 days, you never know if you’ll make it back the next year. Worst case scenario just pray tahajjud at home 20 mins before fajr

Btw ... JUST as problematic are Muslim builders who do NOT practice what Islam preaches ... I want to make that VERY clear. I also want to make it clear that I'm QT-ing the above because it's the primary post/tweet around this conversation of "Muslim vs non-Muslims builders" and "building for money first" vs "building for purpose first". There are 3 categories of builders (and I am not going to define / classify who is considered "devoted/practicing" because I cannot make that judgement at all ... nor am I going to decide who is and isn't Muslim ... I'm not in the takfir business nor do I like it .... I'll just look at whatever's available/stated online): 1. Devoted/practicing Muslims building for Muslims (we need to back this category with the contingency that these Muslims need to ship faster, and better) 2. Non-devoted/practicing Muslims building Muslim apps 3. Non-Muslims building Muslim apps Category 2. and 3. are EQUALLY as concerning. Here's why ... Non-practicing Muslims might "believe" in Allah and but if they're not practicing/devoted then they're (by defintion) not interested in following Allah's / the Islamic guidance ... ALL my above concerns around where the red line is (e.g. selling data, ads etc.) all apply as a result. Non-Muslims don't even "believe" in Allah and the moral code Allah has set for us in the first place to even act upon it. You've got to believe first, then act. So the real point here is ... back people in this space who believe AND act in accordance with Islam. And the way to decide that is by seeing what people say and do (a lot of which is often public). And trust me there's a LOT of problematic apps out there that fall into these two categories. The recent discussion here has just triggered a conversation around this "building for purpose vs money etc.).

Salaam 👋 Founder of the Pillars app here (2M+ downloads alhamdullilah) I've been really resisting commenting on this saga (been sent it by about 10+ different people lol) but there's quite a lot of concerning factors here ... 1) Muslims MUST own their own infrastructure ... it's not even negotiable at this point if you know how Muslims have been BURNED in the past. 2) We must respect our religious practices like prayer and imagery around it. Having been building in this space now for 3-4 years I've grown to realise that it's more of a burden/onous building in this space than any sort of "glory" ... the weight I carry with myself everyday is honestly insane ... everything has to be done SO carefully because of what you're dealing with and how important it is .... if you want proof speak to any of my team and tell them how careful I am with product reviews & marketing decisions. Non-Muslims on the other hand will feel NONE of this ... If you can imagine the crazy stuff that (some) Muslims are already doing with AI, UGC, inappropraite content, and in-app features that are way past the red line ... where do you think this will go? 3) We literally built Pillars because Muslims got completely burned by some of the biggest Muslim apps (that weren't even owned by Muslims) .... we cannot allow this cycle to happen ever again. WIth all due respect to builders on this platform ... enjoy building in other spaces ... but this is a red line for us. And for Muslims building in this space but not acting accordingly (i.e. within Islamic guidelines/ettiquite) ... we've seen you ... we've noted who you are ... and we won't forget what you sold for a couple of $. Salaam ✌️
