1. imo the floor of the trade is Kendry becoming basically another Varland. If he stays in the rotation and/or Roden sticks, then it's worth it.
2. I refuse to complain about that trade until this 'pen blows a save this year lmao

@Brandon_Warne I don’t disagree. I just think having someone who looks like a high leverage guy for a long time would have shown a clearer vision for the bullpen. The other deals had a much clearer vision if that makes sense.

@Brandon_Warne The rub was always Varland. I think most people saw that the Twins wouldn’t compete in the Jax/Duran timeframe but to go from a top 3 bullpen to arguably worst while giving up a guy who had 5 years of pre-FA is tough.

An important distinction is that the team is overperforming on a situational basis rather than an individual one
They just wont bat .306 (1st in MLB) or get on base at a .403 clip (3rd) with RISP the whole year
The top team in those categories in '25 went for .292 and .362

Maybe I’m naive, but it doesn’t feel like any Twins are really playing out of their shoes right now. Like everyone seems to be playing somewhere within their reasonable expectations. Maybe Abel/Bradley, but both have the ability to dominate for stretches.

The current voters are still too biased by the era when closers had much longer and less volatile careers on average.
