@gaurravbhrdwj It is actually a dilemma.Insta crowd brings moolah, which has helped in conservation through community onboarding generating livelihood, and habitat development. But the behaviour, esp selfie mania, is obnoxious and distressful both to wildlife and nature lovers🥲

@gaurravbhrdwj GPS is provided to drivers in many sanctuaries to track crowding, speed and vehicles stationary for undue duration. Mobile ban is also in place at many sanctuaries, but enforcement is patchy. Strict enforcement of mobile entry not just for drivers for tourists is a must

In all Tiger Reserves in India where wildlife safaris are conducted, it is my strong opinion that there should be a complete and strict ban on mobile networks inside those forests. People are currently allowed to carry mobile phones into the jungle. For this reason, the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), an undertaking of the Government of India, should immediately issue a clear order on this matter. Mobile network companies should also be strictly prohibited from providing any kind of network coverage inside the jungles. Even in case of a vehicle breakdown, there should be a permanently fitted GPS system in every safari vehicle, with its access and monitoring controlled exclusively by the Forest Department’s control room. There are two main reasons behind this suggestion: 1. When a driver or guide in any tourist vehicle spots a tiger in a particular area, they immediately message the location and details to others in their group. As a result, drivers rush at high speed with their vehicles to reach that spot so their tourists can see the tiger. This creates a high risk of accidents while speeding on forest tracks, often disturbing other wildlife in the process. 2. Poachers can also misuse this mobile network to stay in contact with each other while hunting wild animals. #bigcatalliance #bigcatsafety #wildlifecare #wildlifeofindia #pannatigerreserve #bandhavgarhtigerreserve

@gaurravbhrdwj Yes, that is ideal but not practical. Given the fear the sight of a “ department vehicle” induces in the drivers and guides , tightening the enforcement screw a few notches is the more feasible option .

@RCNTMA Along with this, mobile signals should also be set to zero in the forest.

@gaurravbhrdwj @RahulRajVerse Mock charges arreported, for some reason, quite common in Corbett, going by social media. Elephants and Rhinos are not as tolerant as tigers. As for tigers, given the extreme provocation, particularly in Ranthambore, an actual incident is just something waiting to happen, I feel

@RahulRajVerse So far, no such case has come to my knowledge outside the jungle. However, doing this puts the animals in the jungle at great risk. Along with that, driving the vehicle at high speed also puts the tourists at risk.
