Today’s #KUCancerFighter hero is Lucy Anderson, a 10-year-old from Olathe battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Lucy has been bravely fighting for the last 16 months and has wowed her family, doctors and nurses with a “determined spirit and courage well beyond her years.”   While she still has a long road ahead, Lucy’s resilience and “fighter’s heart” have her on her way to beating cancer once and for all. This young lady has been so inspiring that as @KUHoops honors the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic today as part of Coaches vs. Cancer week, Lucy has been chosen to attend the game with her family and meet more than a dozen Kansas legends that have helped to raise nearly $2 Million for local pediatric cancer patients in Roundball’s 18 year history.   During a timeout in the 1st half of today’s game, Lucy was joined by many of those Roundball Classic stars and received a standing ovation by the Allen Fieldhouse crowd.  Lucy, we are all so impressed by your grit and determination and Jayhawk fans around the globe salute you today as you press on towards finishing the fight!  Today’s call is for you! 💙❤️

It was another special weekend at the @RCRClassic. Big thanks to all who attended and supported these children, both with your donations and your crowd roars. I’m confident it’s a night they’ll never forget. 🙌❤️👏 You couldn’t pull this off at just any school. It takes special tradition with a deep roster of Jayhawks who are both passionate about their Alma mater & compassionate towards the cause. We’re blessed to have all of the above at Kansas.
