I am very excited to announce that this morning I received and accepted the call to be the new senior minister of Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Lexington NC. We are absolutely convinced this is the Lord’s call for us and I am thrilled to take on this new role. It will also be nice to be a little closer to Richmond. It will of course be very sad to leave @SPCGreenville . We have been here since August of 2018 and this has been such a wonderful home and is all my kids really know. My entire family has enjoyed so many deep friendships here. The leadership and mentorship of the session but especially @RDP4Christ and @MeltonDuncan have been invaluable and among the greatest privileges the Lord has afforded me. I am humbled by the call and so excited to see how the Lord will lead in this next chapter of life. I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls.  (2 Corinthians 12:15, ESV) So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.  (1 Thessalonians 2:8, ESV) The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.  (1 Timothy 1:5, ESV)

@RDP4Christ Congratulations! It was nice of you to pray for Jay Niekirk … but it was a little bit awkward when you couldn’t remember his name. If you’ve never met Jay before, you should! He’s a great guy. geneva.edu/faculty-staff/…

What is not being noticed: Ligonier chose this clip from a marriage video where the woman's husband is present, and, presumably, also speaks. Which means they wanted the woman to be the face, not the man, and for her comments on single women avoiding the idol of marriage and entering the work place to be the hook, not marriage. More generally, this method dovetails with modern ethical psychology on race. The minority is forwarded and often included in order to legitimize or defend one's own identity. Likewise, the gift of singleness and of career is forwarded and praised by a woman in a video about marriage. We are very unnatural and weak in our love. We stigmatize what is natural, normal, wholesome, and good, as if we are truly reasonable, and we praise what is good only by first confessing we are not too committed to it.

Singleness can be a gift that the Lord uses for your good and His glory. Watch as Rebecca VanDoodewaard encourages single women to be fruitful with the time God has given them.

@GeorgeSayour @megbasham You see the clip -- I get that. I see the person in the clip and I know that the viewpoint being ascribed to her is not fair. I object to how social media reduces people to memes and think we should resist the tendency.

@JeanneB94593018 @stephenspin On social media, I most need to be protected from my own character flaws. Being more well-known increases the cost of speaking out -- doing so under my own name makes me be circumspect. Let's not give in to fear of those who want to take us down, but rather fear to sin.

The vile replies to this video are further evidence as to why many godly women remain single today—a dearth of godly and NORMAL young men. Sorry, but I wouldn’t want my daughters to marry whiney cowards who have nothing better to do than wait around on Twitter all day for the next dunk. Her point was clearly that God can and does use women for his glory in their singleness. A woman need not be married to glorify God and enjoy him forever.

@GeorgeSayour @gospelinpoland She did not argue that the desire for marriage is idolatry, but noted that many of our godly girls are so grieved by not having husbands that they forget that they always can have joy in the Lord. The young women she refers to deeply long to be married and to be mothers.

@GeorgeSayour @gospelinpoland No, of course not. But you cannot charitably assess a person's views by watching a clip that is stripped of context. That is my point. I believe you have made inferences that she did not actually imply, and then criticized her publicly for them.

@JeanneB94593018 @stephenspin I don't think I am wrong. We need to speak out under our own name. If I had an anon account, I know it would tempt me to be far more outspoken than I should be. The fact that I own my tweets makes me think twice. Being careful does not mean being anon.

@RDP4Christ @stephenspin A PCA pastor that you know well told me years ago to be careful on social media because of the viciousness of the Kellerite wing of the PCA, hence the anon profile. I think he was mostly trying to protect himself but Garris’s situation proved him prescient. You’re wrong here.

@GeorgeSayour @megbasham But do you have the wisdom to realize that a short clip without context does not well represent her full views? She had no control over this clip so you should at least show the courtesy of viewing the whole video before drawing inferences that she does not make.

@Ligonier The comments in this thread alarmingly show how many young Reformed men are devoid of the fruit of the Spirit: true manhood displays love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

@GeorgeSayour I suspect that it is her graduate school comment that raises eyebrows. But our daughters' minds should be developed as image-bearers of God. And a keen mind is no barrier to marriage and motherhood -- a well-educated woman is an asset to her family and the church.

@GeorgeSayour I don't get why this view rubs you as so wrong. Perhaps because it's a short clip from a message that greatly emphasizes marriage. But her point that women should not wait for marriage to be fruitful is important. And good things that one wants badly can easily become idols.
