Criticism of Ukraine is largely taboo in Berlin. The government doesn't even condemn the destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines. Chancellor Merz's foreign policy is becoming increasingly enigmatic. The German Federal Prosecutor General is convinced that Ukrainian forces attacked the German-Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline and blew up three of the four pipes in the Baltic Sea. That this is a case of Ukrainian state terrorism against an element of German energy supply that was central until the war in Ukraine is now beyond question. President Zelensky was not declared public enemy number one. On the contrary, he continues to be courted in Berlin. It is irrelevant whether Zelenskyy knew about and approved of the attack plans. Like Trump, he bears responsibility for his country's intelligence agencies and special forces, even if they acted independently. The German government and – even more surprisingly – the German media remain silent. The Ukrainians are seen as the good guys, and good guys can't do anything wrong. The moralizing approach in German foreign policy leaves little room for nuance. This black-and-white thinking also leads to serious problems in Ukraine, such as endemic corruption, being addressed only tentatively.

@MattPolProf @Sven_Beckert I gotta say: You're hands down one of the wittiest and most fun to read authors on the Left that I know. I'm surely going to take a look at your theory of liberal socialism. What would be interesting to me: Are you familiar with Geoffrey Hodgson's theory of liberal solidarity?

This has got to be one of the most absurd books I ever came across when it comes to international politics after the First Cold War. And I came across some of them. It's core thesis apparently resembles the nonsense Marco Rubio tried to sell the world at the recent MSC.

@chibuikeobi19 Thank you for taking the time to respond that explicitly. Actually I didn't expect a situation like that in a country like Nigeria. Isn't it due to be a dominant force within Africa? Honestly? Your general knowledge appears impressive to me. Why not try yourself to become a

@chibuikeobi19 I see. A situation which also doesn't sound easy to overcome. How are Nigerians conceiving of the way Ibrahim Traoré is acting toward the West?

@RDisarray as the ideal to which Nigerians and their rulers must follow. So their entire activism and opposition is predicated on unfavourably contrasting corrupt Nigerian rulers to principled Western rulers. That's why asking them to change their beliefs causes such psychic pain.

I come off as a prick in this exchange, because I'm sick and tired of grifters like Henrik, who is trying to make extra money - in addition to his publicly financed diet - by selling people ahistorical nonsense. Btw, I'm quoting you because he blocked me for calling him out.
Stanislav@borzhemsky

@RDisarray @SociologenHD Robert, I am not an academic, just an interested observer. I admit to having no basis for an opinion toward either book. Yet you've already biased me towards Henrik. You come off as a prick in this exchange, and worse, you have that holier-than-thou German attitude down pat.

@chibuikeobi19 This is another and equally fascinating phenomenon. Have most of those people been educated in the West, or does your domestic academy also produce such pro-Western attitudes?

@RDisarray My experience too. In Nigeria, the people least willing to change their worldview about the West are the educated ones who have always looked up to the West. . One can almost see their psychic pain as they stubbornly reject the only logical interpretation of current events.
