Soccer is booming in the United States and World Cup viewership shows there is MASSIVE interest, but it will never be the priority and always play 5th fiddle to the Big 4 sports in America unless Americans fundamentally change their approach to youth sports. American Soccer is behind the rest of the world for 3 reasons: 1. Cultural Sporting DNA In the USA, Soccer competes in a crowded field of Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey instead of dominating like abroad. Europe and the rest of the world built soccer through community clubs, local pride and it being their default sport. They are born with a soccer ball on their feet. 2. Pay-to-Play Barrier In the USA most youth are priced out of playing because the cost to be on the team is too expensive. Currently there is a 14% decline in youth soccer participation between ages 6 to 12. Europe and the rest of world’s accessible club model keeps more kids in the game longer. 3. Less participation in the sport An all time high 16.8 million youth played outdoor soccer in the USA in 2025, but per capita the USA is far behind other European countries like Belgium which has a 3x higher rate of participation for its population size. For American soccer to catch up, it has to change its sporting culture focus to development instead of making money and lower the cost barrier for participation through state and government funded clubs over the next 20 years. Development needs to be the priority, not maximizing how much money can be made off the athlete and their parents. Instead of focusing on the old statement of “if our best athletes played”, focus on making the best athletes want to keep playing and the ones who do play the beautiful game better at it. Then and only then can we find our Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal, Messi, Ronaldo or Jude Bellingham. We have to build the structure for them to develop in. #FIFAWorldCup #FIFAWorldCup2026 #Football #Soccer #RG3 #OuttaPocket #USA

Cape Verde’s Sidny Lopes Cabral is a story of NEVER GIVING UP. Three years ago he was grinding in Germany’s fifth division, making 850 € a month, struggling to pay his bills. At one point Cabral had to use bin bags for curtains because he couldn’t afford anything else. Instead of calling it a day and giving up, Sidny kept the faith, worked hard knowing that his moment would present itself and that he would be ready. He went from the 5th division to the 3rd, then earned a spot with Estrella da Amadora in Portugal, then Benfica came calling and now plays for Turkish Süper Lig Club Trabzonspor. He helped Cape Verde punch their ticket to their first ever World Cup and set up a historic Round of 32 match against Lionel Messi and Argentina. This is where Sidny shocked the world by scoring one of the greatest goals in World Cup history, creating a viral meme running to find his girlfriend after the goal and becoming a breakout star at the 2026 World Cup But Sidny didn’t shock himself. In 3 years, Sidny Lopes Cabral went from making 850 € a month in the 5th division in Germany to making 1.3 million € a year for Trabzonspor. He never give up. He knew his value and worth. Sidny Lopes Cabral proved that your starting point doesn't decide where you'll finish. Your biggest moment might be right around the corner. So don’t quit. #FIFAWORLDCUP #FIFAWORLDCUP2026 #CapeVerde #Football #Soccer #RG3 #OuttaPocket #WorldCup

As a US citizen you should stand with your country and its athletes when they give you an opportunity to cheer them on against any other country, not find a way to root against them because you hate who the President is. The World Cup and the Olympics are the biggest country vs country competitions on the planet. It’s not about what team your favorite player plays for or who you have historically rooted for. It is a time when you decide if you are going to root for your country or against it. I’m a military kid, who loves God and watched as my friends’ Moms, Dads, Brothers, Sisters and Aunts, Uncles die in service of the freedoms we enjoy today. So supporting your country and rooting for your country does mean a lot to me. Some people think loving America means supporting Donald Trump or historical atrocities committed by your country, but it doesn’t. It simply means standing with your country in a competition when the rest of the world is standing with theirs. US VERSUS THEM. If you have dual citizenship or your family is from another country and the USA is playing them, then I’m not talking about you. But if you are looking for a “yea but what about this that happened or what about that thing that happened” which has nothing to do with rooting for your country in a dang World Cup match and chanting USA, then I got 4 words for you. Bless your heart traitor. #FIFAWorldCup #Football #Soccer #RG3 #OuttaPocket

If you are a US Citizen and you aren’t rooting for USA against Belgium, you are a traitor. No other way to put it. You can’t be trusted if you are rooting against your own country in the World Cup.

Lionel Messi is GOAT It’s not just the accolades. It’s not just the longevity. It’s how his country men and teammates respond when he is on the field with them. Argentina plays for Messi. Argentina is Messi. And it’s a beautiful thing to see. #FIFAWORLDCUP

The WNBA has completely mismanaged its biggest star in Caitlin Clark and it’s sad to see. Caitlin Clark didn’t do it alone and there are a number of current and former players who helped pave and maintain the way, but Caitlin Clark has been the primary catalyst for the WNBA’s new media rights deal, new CBA, having to move games to bigger arenas, getting private chartered flights and so much more. Yet when she is targeted in ways on the court that aren’t about basketball, it’s brushed aside as “physicality” or “just the way we play in the W”. No. What Alyssa Thomas did to Caitlin Clark was not about basketball. What Alyssa Thomas did to Angel Reese was not about basketball. It was a cheap shot. It was dirty. It was done on purpose. And it’s hurting the WNBA as a whole. What’s also sad is that because of the mismanagement of Caitlin Clark by the WNBA as a whole, the fact that HISTORICALLY INCREDIBLE BASKETBALL IS BEING PLAYED in the WNBA and it’s not being talked about enough. Marina Mabrey tied the WNBA record for most points in a game with 53 points, 6 Rebs, 2 assists and tied the WNBA record by hitting NINE 3’s for the Toronto Tempo 🤯 Rookie Olivia Miles broke Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers’ WNBA record for fastest to score 300 points and have 100 assists. Clark and Bueckers did it in 19 games, so Miles did it in 18. Olivia Miles has also lead the Minnesota Lynx, without star player Napheessa Collier, to the best record in the league and #1 in every major offensive statistic. Angel Reese just became the fastest player to get 1k rebounds. There is so much greatness happening in the WNBA, and it’s being ignored because people don’t want to celebrate it when the league won’t even protect its own players from unnecessary targeted behavior. Some people don’t want to celebrate the WNBA when the league won’t protect its most marketable player that is the driving force behind its increased awareness. But I will say the quiet part out loud. The facts today still show that far too many people are making things in the WNBA about race or sexuality and not the results. Drawing a line in the sand and defending any player’s dirty play just because of the color of their skin is wrong. We shouldn’t be denying the truth of what we see and situating or views of the truth along color lines. Caitlin Clark and every WNBA player wants to compete at the highest level. They are tough and the best female basketball players in the World. They don’t want to be involved in identity politics or race wars. They just want to play basketball. Right & wrong has no color. Alyssa Thomas was wrong for what she did. Caitlin Clark is a phenom, the WNBA has been wrong at so many turns with how they have handled her and the WNBA needs to improve its officiating. Olivia Miles was the right pick for Minnesota and is the runaway Rookie of the Year right now. Marina Mabrey was the right move for the Toronto Tempo. Angel Reese was the right move for the Atlanta Dream. Don’t pick sides based on the color of a player’s skin or their sexuality. Let’s just talk basketball. What Alyssa Thomas did wasn’t about basketball, she is rightfully getting crushed for it and got suspended. But everything doesn’t have to be a race war. It shouldn’t be. Via @OuttaPocketRG3

No Caitlin Clark on this poster is RIDICULOUS. No Diana Taurasi No Sue Bird No Tamika Catchings. No Candace Parker. No Elena Delle Donne. No Cynthia Cooper. No Sylvia Fowles. RIDICULOUS. You can’t tell the 30 year history of the WNBA without these women.
