In 1945, the Polka Dot Gang was a group of bandits, who wore polka dotted bandannas as disguises. They had a hideout in Richmond Hill at an abandoned farm on the corner of present day Bathurst Street & Mill Street.

Amos Wright Park is named for Amos Wright, the first Reeve of Markham Township in 1850. In 1997 the home was opened as the Richmond Hill Heritage Centre.
