I think Scottie is so chronically offline that the entire idea of media is a pointless waste of time to him. Media’s job is to give the players a platform to shape their own narrative. Dodging or dismissing questions from the media like this only leads to speculative backlash.

As a kid growing up in Northern Ireland, I dreamed of winning all four majors. Being able to bring these trophies home was truly surreal.

Dimitri Van den Bergh has just missed a match dart in a decider from 4-0 down against Adam Gawlas. Some good stuff at the back end of the match but I really feel for Dimi. He’s registered just three wins all season and is struggling with performances. In 2024 he won a major, made the semis of two others and the quarters of the Matchplay. In 2025 he reached the semis of the World Masters before his form plummeted. He would perhaps benefit from an extended break but is in dire need of ranking points. He’s provisionally outside of the world’s top 64 post World Championship meaning he will lose his Tour Card if things don’t change. That would’ve seemed unfathomable just a few short years ago when he was in the world’s top 10 and appeared destined to be one of the game’s top stars for many years to come. Just goes to show how brutal and cruel this sport can be in such a short space of time. Does he try and fight for form to retain his Tour Card or accept losing it and take a break to try to recover mentally from the trials and tribulations of the tour? A nightmare for The DreamMaker.
