@Gergyl We have always lived where we farm. We perversely value habitation and convenience over agricultural or ecological value.

Tip: Don't build on a floodplain. Just don't. Can't read the terrain; tell what's a floodplain? So maybe dig a hole. Is the soil residual, over broken, weathered rock? Probably (not always) you're ok. Is it deep alluvial? Probably that's a floodplain.

@drianwright That’s the Medlow Bath one (ICAO: YKAT). I flew in some Cessnas out of there when I was a kid, like 45 years ago. You’re right that it’s closed, and it doesn’t look any different to what it did when I was 12. I doubt it’s the source, but I defer to others with actual knowledge.
