So I was building a small analytics project. Nothing crazy. Didn’t want to pay for a DB, so I used Supabase free tier (500MB). DB almost full. Queries timing out. App crawling. 🐢 Cheap > smart. My mistake.

The 4% rule explained simply: If you need $40k/year to live, you need $1M invested. Why? Because 4% of $1M = $40k. That's your FIRE number. Now work backwards: - What do you actually spend? - Multiply by 25 - That's your target Math, not magic.
