@Connor_J_Hughes This reminds me of the OBJ Trade - ironically, one of the players the Giants got from that trade was Dexter Lawrence. So, if they do trade, I hope we get the next young superstar for the next 5-10 years.

Here’s my understanding of where things stand with Dexter Lawrence...
He wants a new deal that reflects the current IDL market. If not, a trade.
There is not an insane push from the #Giants. From their perspective: He’s under contract for two more seasons. They will try to come to a resolution that works for both, but they don’t have to do anything.
If they can’t, this is not a situation where they’ll take the best of whatever trade offers they get.
This is very similar to the #Jets-Quinnen Williams deal at the trade deadline. Williams requested a trade 3x, wanting his contract reworked. NYJ were not moving him until they got an offer they couldn’t refuse from Dallas (2026 2, 2027 1, Mazi Smith).
We’ll see if an offer the Giants can’t say no to comes in before the draft.

Dexter Lawrence had a higher Pass Rush Win Rate last year than Brian Burns did any season in his entire career while commanding one of the highest double and triple team rates in the NFL.

@MONTECRI5TO Brian Burns was coming off a very good yr after his age 25 season. Burns’s deal expired & was on the tag. Dex is coming off a poor season, has 2 more yrs on his deal, & is entering his age 29 season. Their situations are not the same.

I know people aren’t ready to hear this but Sacks are a terrible way to judge how a player is going to perform moving forward. Brian Burns had a Pass Rush Win Rate that was almost half of Dex’s last season. 62% of Burns total Pressures resulted in Sacks that is unsustainable.

@MONTECRI5TO Burns is good but yeah these people that post this shit don’t understand burns life is easier because of dex, the doubles/triples dex sees opens up a ton for the edge rushers. Dex was 100% not his normal self last year but man people are going overboard
