Twitter is now owned by Elon Musk 🤮, which means this will be my last post here. His plans to reduce limitations and penalties for bullying and hate speech means this platform is no longer safe for me. If you want to stay connected, please come catch me in on insta: DrRaeO ❤️🐝

super big shout out to people like @RLOlsson and @Cataranea who paved the way for me to feel ok expressing myself. Thanks for being visible examples of professional queer people - I am so glad I had people to look up to ♥️

I have pretty mixed emotions about this photo from my memories today- on one hand, I loved the conference, the poster, and the work. But on the other hand this was during a time I felt to be respected as a professional I needed to present my gender a certain way.

It's Friday, stop what you're doing, pick up your latest American Entomologist, turn to the back page, and read @RLOlsson's Zyzzyva article "Shared Traits: Entomologists and LGBTQ+ Folks". @ECP_Entsoc @AmericanEntoSoc @WSUEntomology

Did you need a chubbynosed weevil on a stem? I think you might have needed one, so here you go. 😁

Black widow spider lived a lot longer than expected. Saved from a bag of grapes in Sept 2019, she lived in a box on my desk & at home in my laundry room until Dec 2021. It’s been an honor being able to observe such a beautiful creature 🕷 ❤️ #blackwidowspider

@JGEntiminae @RLOlsson Strongylophthalmyiidae. I have collected them, identified them and databased them. But I have never heard anyone pronounce that word.
