I saw a Manchester United fan on Sky Sports earlier saying the club shouldn’t consider anyone other than Michael Carrick as manager. I completely disagree.
It feels like everyone in the studio is only looking at the results, not the performances. We’ve been down this road before with Solskjær — good runs and good vibes but without a clear long-term structure.
If United fall into that same trap again, I fear it ends the same way. The club needs to think bigger than just short-term results. And I hope INEOS make the right call.
I rate what Michael Carrick has done so far — he’s steady and the results have been decent. But if we’re thinking long-term, I still believe Manchester United need a manager with a clear philosophy. That’s why I’d take Luis Enrique.
What I want is a properly coached team with a defined way of playing — the kind where opponents know exactly what’s coming but still can’t stop it. Look at PSG the last couple of years under Enrique: structure, patterns, identity.
I don’t want a United side full of talented players who show up when they feel like it. At times under Solskjær and even Carrick it feels more like good vibes than real coaching — players expressing themselves but without a clear system.
If the goal is to win the Premier League and Champions League again, vibes alone won’t get us there.

@RMoheim @CrewsMat10 Stefano was very skillful agile a dribbling master and a creator with flair. Are you retarded or you just dont know?
English

If we are talking about trophies, achievements and accomplishments it’s Neymar, but if we are talking about scoring, creating chances, a better big game player and a better all round player it’s still Neymar.
george@StokeyyG2
Let’s settle this. Neymar or Wayne Rooney?
English

@Zakarotto365 @CrewsMat10 U need a doctor. Stefano played like Neymar? You are so dumb
English

@RMoheim @CrewsMat10 I dont need to “take” the point LMAO. Football was revolutionized in the 60s and 70s by players like pele, di stefano, garrincha, johan cruyff, gerd muller, jairzinho all were players who played very similar to how Neymar played. In the 80s and 90s as well. Wtf are you saying?🤣

For weeks they talked about the game with Grimsby.
They talked about the match against 10men Everton.
They talked about the haircut guy.
They talked about how United aren’t in the UCL.
They talked about Bruno Fernandes.
Bruno vs Pedri
Bruno vs Rice
Now it’s Wayne Rooney vs Neymar.
It’s been all about Manchester United this season… without us, there’s no football
English

@Zakarotto365 @CrewsMat10 U did not take the point. Maybe no one is home.
English

@RMoheim @CrewsMat10 Rooney was definitely the greatest player in the years from 1960s to around 1980s i mean he’s the reason why England won the wc 66
English

@Nino12x If you were born between 2000 and 2005, you’ll probably say Neymar.
If you were born between 1950 and 2000, you’ll almost certainly say Wayne Rooney.
Different generations, different football memories. Both players were one of the greatest. End of story.
English

A lot of people did not watch Rooney and it’s showing
A gritty, explosive no 9/10 with a clutch gene never seen before. His longevity spanned over 15 years. was truly a unicorn
Can understand why a lot of fans love Neymar. His flair and dribbling ability was unreal
But Rooney defined an era of Barclays premier league that would never be replicated 👍🏽
Rory Jennings ⭐ ⭐@Chelsearory
Wayne Rooney was a better player than Neymar. By a country mile. There isn’t one aspect of football where Neymar outshines Rooney. Vision, output, effectiveness, mentality…it’s all Rooney. Some things in football are to be debated, others are straight up fact, this is the latter
English

🤣 so what makes Rooney think he’s up there with Neymar
No Man U legend has a better legacy than Neymar
SPOTLIGHT 360@SportLight360
PLAYER STATS NEYMAR VS ROONEY ⚽️
English

@GingaBonitoHub @Jordan1977590 Gareth Bale said it was farmers league a couple of weeks ago. Fuckin morons. Living under a stone
English

@Jordan1977590 The Premier League wasn’t even better than La Liga in the 2010’s 😂
Theres as a reason they all got mogged in the UCL 90% of the time & got dominated in Europa League too
English

Neymar vs Wayne Rooney:
🇧🇷 Neymar:
🏟️ 752 Games
⚽️ 453 Goals
🅰️ 260 Assists
🟰 713 Goal participations
🏆 30 Trophies
🌎 11 G/A in 13 World Cup games
🇪🇺 73 G/A in 81 Champions League games
🏴 Wayne Rooney:

🟰 555 Goal Participations
🏆 16 Trophies
🌏 2 G/A in 11 World Cup games
🇪🇺 51 G/A in 85 Champions League games
There isn’t a world where Wayne Rooney comes close to a genius like Neymar.

Buvey@lawrence_bury
People actually saying Neymar is clear of Wayne Rooney 😂 The world we live in.
English

@EiFSoccer @Rowan_m17 Neymar fucked up is own career and ran to france to step out of messis shadow only to fuck PSG’s CL hopes. Injuries and parties. You should go to jail. Put some respect on Wayne Mark Rooney.
English

@_MrRED11_ @ImpressionistAL @ade_oladipo1 I dont know what medical condtion you have but it has to be serious. Hopes and prayers for you
English

@ImpressionistAL @ade_oladipo1 Rooney was bang average! Fucking hell the bloke played 16 seasons for the best team in the league and only scored 208 goals 😂 not even a top 10 prem striker
English

“Neymar might win a skills contest, but Rooney wins a football match.”
Category / Better Player
Peak technical ability - Neymar
Versatility - Rooney
Longevity - Rooney
Tactical impact - Rooney
Flair / entertainment - Neymar
Leadership/Mentality - Rooney
If you value pure footballing talent, Neymar likely edges it.
If you value complete career, influence, and adaptability, Rooney has the stronger case
Rooney was a central figure in one of the most dominant periods of Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Between 2004-2017 United:
•Won multiple Premier League titles
•Reached three (!) UEFA Champions League finals and won it in 2008/09
•Dominated English football.
Rooney was not a passenger. He was the link between midfield and attack, the pressing trigger, and often the tactical sacrifice. People often forget how dominant Rooney was around 2006-2012.
In that period he was:
•Scoring like an elite striker
•Creating like a playmaker
•Pressing like a midfielder.
Few attackers combined those three aspects simultaneously.
He was arguably the most complete forward in Europe during that stretch. Neymar cannot match Rooneys longevity.
When Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record transfer, the expectation was clear:
He would step out of the shadow of Lionel Messi and become the best player in the world.
That never really happened.
Injuries, inconsistency and the environment of Ligue 1 meant he never dominated world football the way many predicted.
English

@FPLfrasier Wtf are you waffling about? You for real or what. Born in 2010?
English

Does Rooney consider himself as a
top player? Because Neymar was better than Rooney.
