From red-light jumping to reckless pavement riding, e-bike use is putting people at risk. I’m calling on Lime, Forest and other e-bike operators to block pavement riding with GPS, enforce tougher penalties and real accountability. Residents deserve SAFER PAVEMENTS🚲

We have just introduced our Social Housing Bill to Parliament. At its heart are comprehensive reforms to the Right to Buy including exempting newly built social housing for 35 years. The Bill also increases protections for social tenants who are victims of domestic abuse.

BREAKING The Prime Minister told a meeting of the Cabinet: “As I said yesterday, I take responsibility for these election results and I take responsibility for delivering the change we promised. “The past 48 hours have been destabilising for government and that has a real economic cost for our country and for families. “The Labour Party has a process for challenging a leader and that has not been triggered. “The country expects us to get on with governing. That is what I am doing and what we must do as a Cabinet.” Ends

Back to parliament today after the local elections. This morning the Prime Minister has set out the scale of the challenge ahead and bold actions to take on those challenges. We should support the Prime Minister to deliver for the country and not turn on ourselves.

We won’t deliver for communities by turning in on ourselves. After campaigning week in week out for the local elections, I know how much more work there is to do and that should be the continued focus for this Government: safer streets, decent homes, brighter futures.

These are tough results for Labour. There’s no sugarcoating it. We’ve lost brilliant Labour representatives who’ve stood up for their communities. People are still frustrated. Their lives aren’t changing fast enough. We haven’t offered enough hope or optimism for the future. I was elected to change this country - tough days like this don’t weaken my determination to do that. They strengthen it.
