Today's X1.4 flare and associated "sun burp" is indeed expected to have some bite with regard to auroras. NOAA suggests G2 level conditions could develop Friday night into Saturday morning. At G2, faint auroras can be seen (and certainly photographed) from WNY. For the rest of the country, G2 storms tend to keep aurora visibility limited to far northern states. As several active sunspot regions continue to rotate Earthside, additional eruptions could present more chances ahead to see auroras.

@EclipseOverCLE We still partied and celebrated the darkness. You could see the shadow move across the clouds.

I feel real bad that Rochester was clouded out but it looks like that crowd had a good time with their shadow show.

That was some eclipse, huh? While the next one won't appear in the sky anywhere near Rochester, we'll still have our memories of these great Eclipse Robots that the kids made on a recent Maker Monday!
