Historic achievement at @cannes Film Festival today: 🇷🇴 director Cristian Mungiu wins the PALME D’OR for “Fjord”. This is his 2nd Palme d’Or, making him one of the few directors ever to receive the prestigious award twice. Congrats to Cristian Mungiu and the entire “Fjord” team!

Romania ranks 6th in Europe&12th globally in wine production. Earlier this month, glad to open the Wine Masterclass showcasing outstanding Romanian wines from the Vintruvian Group, an event dedicated to HoReCa professionals and wine buyers, promoting RO wines in the UK.

Today at the Palace of Westminster, alongside fellow ambassadors, I was honoured to attend the King’s Speech marking the State Opening of Parliament.

It was a pleasure to host President @ZelenskyyUa as a special guest at the #B9Summit in Bucharest, reconfirming our unity and determination to help Ukraine defend itself and be in a position of strength. On this occasion, we also held very good bilateral consultations, following-up on the meaningful official visit of President Zelenskyy in Romania two months ago. Romania will continue to be a firm supporter of the European path of Ukraine. We are also determined to continue to take practical steps to implement our newly established Strategic Partnership, focusing on increasing commercial ties, cross border cooperation, energy security, defence innovation, education and on many other areas. Ukraine has made decisive steps towards becoming a security provider with their experience in employing new technologies on the battlefield, especially drone and counter-drone warfare. Romanian industry will also benefit from Ukraine’s know-how in developing and manufacturing new defence technologies.

O participare amplă astăzi la Bucureşti a statelor din Formatul B9 și a aliaților noștri din zona nordică, într-o reuniune constructivă, deschisă, la finalul căreia poziționările noastre sunt foarte asemănătoare. Avem cu toții preocupări comune, pentru că există și o amenințare comună - Rusia și de aceea este normal ca pozițiile noastre să fie compatibilizate în întâlniri cum a fost cea de azi. A apărut în discuție ideea ca această compatibilitate să devină la un moment dat mai formală, într-un format mai extins decât acesta. În cadrul Summitului B9, a fost adoptată o declarație comună, în care menționăm sprijinul pe care țările noastre continuă să-l ofere Ucrainei și ne asumăm, totodată, respectarea angajamentelor de suplimentare a cheltuielilor militare și transformarea acestor bani în capabilități care să facă o Alianță mai bine pregătită pentru amenințări și să contribuie la echilibrarea contribuțiilor între ţările europene şi SUA. Sintagma NATO 3.0, cuprinsă în declarație, comprimă această voință comună a țărilor noastre. Pentru securitatea Europei, pentru funcționarea NATO, relația transatlantică este extrem de importantă. Am adus în discuție situația Republicii Moldova, amenințată într-un proces de război hibrid cu Rusia și e important să o ajutăm pentru a ține piept acestei agresiuni. Am vorbit și despre protecția cetățenilor români care pot fi afectați de dronele care ajung să treacă granița noastră și există în interiorul NATO proiectul Santinela Estului care progresează exact în acest sens. Le-am urat bun venit la București liderilor statelor membre B9, invitaților și prietenilor noștri nordici, Secretarului General al NATO și le-am mulțumit pentru prezență SUA și Ucrainei, care au participat ca observatori. Dialogul nostru are loc într-un context internațional dinamic, cu două luni înainte de un moment important pentru noi toți, Summitul NATO de la Ankara. Organizarea reuniunii de astăzi la București, aproape de Ucraina, de Marea Neagră și în proximitatea amenințărilor ruse la adresa teritoriului aliat este cu atât mai semnificativă. Scopul Summitului nostru este de a coagula o abordare unitară despre viitorul NATO. Pentru fiecare dintre țările noastre există o prioritate pentru propria securitate și există o prioritate pentru consolidarea securității transatlantice. De aceea, motto-ul acestei reuniuni este să oferim mai mult pentru securitatea transatlantică. Pentru a ne îndeplini aceste obiective este necesar să creștem cheltuielile dedicate apărării, pe care trebuie să le transformăm în capabilități, să sporim contribuția aliaților europeni la NATO și să dezvoltăm împreună o bază industrială militară transatlantică solidă. Întâlnirea de astăzi ne oferă oportunitatea de a vedea unde suntem în implementarea angajamentelor pe care ni le-am luat la Summitul NATO de la Haga și de a reafirma sprijinul nostru pentru Ucraina și Republica Moldova. Kicking off the #B9Summit in #Bucharest with a coordination meeting together with @SecGenNATO Mark Rutte and Polish President @NawrockiKn. The B9 format brings added value for the security of the Alliance as a whole and our Summit starting tomorrow aims at making a concrete contribution to the success of the NATO Summit in Ankara, including on meeting the Hague commitments on defence spending and further assistance to Ukraine. The #EasternFlank countries are already taking more responsibility for European defence and I underlined the strategic importance of the Black Sea for regional and Euro-Atlantic security and the need for more decisive action to counter the assertive behavior of Russia.

Proud to have co-chaired at the #EPC Summit in Yerevan, together with President @JakovMilatovic of Montenegro, the round table on Democratic Resilience & Hybrid Threats. Disinformation, cyberattacks and external interference are interconnected threats demanding a coordinated European response: stronger institutions, cross-border cooperation, media literacy and vigilant oversight of AI. At the Moldova Core Group Meeting in the sidelines of the #EPC Summit in Yerevan, Romania reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Republic of Moldova's European future. EU integration is its strongest guarantee of security and long-term prosperity. We will not allow Russian influence to erode what the citizens of the R. Moldova have chosen – the European path. Romania will remain one of the most dedicated supporters of R. Moldova and I underlined once more that our own security, that of Ukraine and the security of R. Moldova are closely interlinked. This why any future security guarantees for Ukraine must take into account the situation of R. Moldova. @sandumaiamd @EmmanuelMacron
