On a personal level, Original Sin: Prelude to Biohazard strikes me as a full circle return to how my journey with the Residence of Evil began in 2020, with my introductions to and analyses of both Biohazard: The Beginning and the first SD Perry RE novel, and the shared world-building elements between them. Now, with this opportunity to grant flesh and life to the original Biohazard: The Beginning novella via a cinematic adaptation, we can rediscover the roots of authentic RE stories. Classic characters, ensnared in the jaws of municipal evil, dare to challenge the dominant order, uncovering forbidden knowledge in the deep, dark underbelly of their city. They willingly clash with figureheads who've turned a blind eye to the realities of good and evil, burying them under sufficiently convincing images of each. It's a premise that undergirds the very foundation of RE, and therefore, a story that ought to be told in a more evocative capacity: on the big screen.
