The music room was rocking and rolling today as children took part in some really enjoyable music workshops with Rock Steady!

Children in Years 3 to 6 had a fantastic time at the O2 Greenwich cinema watching Wicked: For Good! The big-screen experience was magical, with pupils captivated by the stunning visuals, incredible music, and powerful storytelling.

This week, our young scientists explored the chemistry of cakes with a fun kitchen science experiment—making microwave mug cakes! First, pupils followed a recipe for the perfect cake. Then, they investigated what happens when certain ingredients are left out.

Year 6 were thrilled to meet Pibbles, our newly adopted African penguin, and used this experience as inspiration for their art lesson. The children applied key art techniques to create detailed sketches of Pibbles, focusing on tone and shading to capture texture and depth.

Continuing their unit on Electrical systems, Year 6 pupils have been investigating existing products to understand what influences their form (appearance) and function (how they work). As part of this hands-on project, pupils explored how ‘Doodlers’ are designed and constructed.

Year 3 began their Design and Technology unit by exploring pneumatic systems. Pupils learned that mechanisms are systems of parts working together to create motion, and that pneumatic systems can be incorporated into these mechanisms.

This week, Year 3 pupils became budding botanists as they used magnifying glasses to make careful observations of their plants. They examined leaves, stems, & roots, noting very precise details such as texture, colour variations, & even tiny patterns they hadn’t noticed before.

Year 4 have been understanding what effective composition is in art. They have carefully selected and arranged sweets wrappers in an interesting way to create a collage whilst considering textures and colours.

Year 6 commenced their art drawing unit: Make my voice heard by exploring expressive drawing techniques by using a range of handmade tools to create different lines, tones, texture and form.

Wow! Look at what we’ve harvested from the school garden! As well as these ENORMOUS courgettes, the school garden has provided us with beetroots, tomatoes and peppers which our school cook have included in our delicious school dinners this week.
