The Campervan could indeed become a part of the very history of Scotland. Or it could be used as a reference point in Christmas pantos. Whatever we have not seen the last of its like!
alexmassie@alexmassie

In the great tradition of the Mail vs the Express back in the grand old days, I’m very much looking forward to the scrap between The Daily Record and The Sun when it comes to purchasing a certain campervan at auction… Fair warms the heart, so it does.

@gareth0108 Last one built was Carsington Water in Derbyshire. Finished after privatisation due to problems with the dam. Lovely walk along the dam though.

I reminder needed that there is a company in the city that pays this clown a six figure salary for his advice I wonder why we have had no reservoirs built since privatisation? oh what could it be ? I know let’s have a dig at net zero instead what an utter clown
John Redwood@johnredwood

Net zero advocates say we are running short of water because of changing weather. The main reason is of course the failure to put in new reservoirs to cater for the large increase in population through migration this century. We had plenty of rain last winter.

@gareth0108 @Shrink_at_Large @unojen_wood 40 years next month dealing with this issue going back to YTS. The reasons for the decline of Apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds are numerous. Daft DfE funding decisions, employers preferring 19+ recruits, the advertising of vacancies is shambolic etc.

@Shrink_at_Large @unojen_wood Saw Milburn churning out the Tufton st line that we spend £25 on benefits for every £1 we spend on training he forgets companies used to fund / organise the training we supplied the colleges we now subsidise companies millions for very little in return

Parents on benefits aren’t discouraging their teenage kids to get apprenticeships. The causes of transgenerational poverty and unemployment are a lot more complicated than that.

The world in economic crisis, the NHS at breaking point, the cost-of-living crisis, the collapse of public services….these should be the priorities for the Prime Minister. Instead, let’s get excited about a bloody football match. Pathetic!

Having done the Scottish 42 & 80 plus grounds lower down the pyramid the pull of lower league football beyond the Premiership is stronger than ever. Why bother with what is still the joint most uncompetitive senior league in all Europe? HT @Tartan_GHopper

@aswren Can someone tell me, when last the Belgians did anything worthwhile militarily? Like before Napoleon perhaps? No shows in ww1 and ww2. Nothing since. Do they even make wooden clogs or something?

Sidestepping the question but Pilate is such a great literary character. Vain, irritated, prickled by a conscience he thought he long killed, projecting power while knowing it’s really a powder keg. “What is Truth?” as both cynical realpolitik & a genuine inching toward the light
Sami Gold@souljagoyteller

Why is it that Pontius Pilate is not more of a villain in Christian history? When reading the New Testament for the first time, I was shocked to see that Pilate is depicted more as doing his Roman duty and not as a satanic force
