@Ernesto_LopezJr @ThePPIs Interesting question, and no they generally did not! There seemed to be a greater focus in these interviews on social/structural reasons than legal for colorblind policy and practice.

@RRDunlea @ThePPIs Thank you for sharing. It is curious that the 14th Amendment (equal protection) was not discussed. I would think the oath of public office would formalize the colorblind approach. Did prosecutors not discuss legal requirements?

New qualitative article out in Criminology! Prosecutors embrace colorblindness in their work, and race-neutral cultural scripts like “Every case is unique” and “We only prosecute what the police bring to us” reinforce that approach. @ThePPIs onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

@ThePPIs @ResLegalDiva @LinLiu76028941 @RRDunlea Thx everyone. Last thought: as an elected prosecutor, plan to spend at least 3 years building data culture. Lead by example by describing how you use data to find solutions. Be persistent in messaging about the importance of checking trends monthly. Stay engaged with communities
