(2/2) He attempted to solicit a bribe of R4000 from the driver but the driver reported the incident to the police. The incident happened on 28 July 2016 and he was dismissed from SAPS in 2017. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

(1/2) Former Police Constable, Paul Pitso was handed a wholly suspended sentence for corruption and drug trafficking. He was sentenced to five years for corruption and four years for drug trafficking. Pitso stopped a vehicle on the N1 near Colesberg and found 35kg of cannabis.

(3/3) Ngubo was pregnant with triplets and Gema wanted her to terminate her pregnancy during the early stages, but she refused. The triplets also died as a result of her death. Gema was futher declared unfit to possess a firearm.

(2/3) Ngubo informed her family that she is stepping out to see Gema. Gema drove with her for about 1.4km and stopped on the side of the road in a secluded area. She then strangled her to death, and dumped her bodyand her body was found the following day.

(1/3) IPID welcomes a sentence of life imprisonment imposed on Sergeant Mbuyiseni Gema (48) for murder of his heavily pregnant girlfriend, Mathembi Ngubo (35). On 13 August 2023, Gema called Ngubo to inform her that he is coming to see her. He arrived in a marked police vehicle.

(2/2) Gazu died from his injuries whilst in custody. The officers were sentenced to 14 years for murder, and 3 years for assault. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently. They were further declared unfit to possess a firearm.

(1/2) Constable Ernest Marumo (43), and Constable Thabang Makgotla (32), from Honeydew Police Station were sentenced to an effective 14 year prison term for murder and attempted murder by South Gauteng High Court. They assaulted and tortured Thando Gazu (40), and Msizi Memela.

(3/3) The wife was declared dead. IPIDtook over the case for investigation and Sishi was charged for murder. He pleaded guilty and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

(2/3) An argument ensued between the two and the daughter heard her mother screaming for help. She went out to call for help. Neighbours arrived and tried to intervene, but Sishi was violent and wanted to stab those who tried to intervene. The police arrived and arrested Sishi.

(1/3) IPID welcomes the sentencing of Ethekwini Metro cop, Thulasizwe Sishi (41), to life imprisonment for stabbing his wife to death, Thandokuhle Siishi (48), on 26/07/2025 during a domestic dispute. Sishi got home at 00h30, and went to the bedroom where the wife was sleeping

[4/4] The court also ordered that his name should be included in the National Register for Sex Offenders. He was also declared unfit to work with children in terms of Section 120 of the Children's Act 38 of 2005.

[3/4] The complainant left and informed her father what happened when shhe got homme, and the incident was reported to IPID. The police constable was arrested and charged for sexual assault. He pleaded guilty, and he was sentenced to five years which was wholly suspended.

[1/4] A 34-year-old Police Constable stationed at Park Road Crime Intelligence was sentenced to five years, wholly suspended, for sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl. The complainant was playing in the neighbour's, when her friend's father got home at around 18h15 on 06/12/2025.

(3/3) Constable Mohoboko later pleaded guilty and he was sentenced to six months or a fine of R6000. R4000 was suspended and Constable Mohoboko is liable to pay a fine of R2000.

(2/3) On Monday, 09 January 2026, Constable Mohoboko arrived home at around 17h45, and threatened to burn down the house while she was inside. The matter was reported to IPID for investigation.

(1/3) Constable TD Mohoboko (42), from Bultfontein SAPS was sentenced to six months imprisonment by the local magistrate's court for Contravention of Protection Order. Mohoboko's wife had a protection order against him, which stated that he must not threaten and or insult her.

(2/2) The focus was on key priorities, which include amongst others; the reduction of backlog cases, prioritisation of GBVF cases, strengthening stakeholder relations, and digital transformation.

(1/2) IPID Executive Management led by Dr Hlengani Bila today presented its Annual Performance Plan and Budget to the Portfolio Committee of Police.
