We have been mourning the loss of one of our own this week following the death of former president Dr. Sherry L. Hoppe on Sunday. To those who had the great privilege to know her, Dr. Hoppe was a trailblazer whose career spanned decades of service to higher education in Tennessee.
She served as the second president of Roane State from 1988-2000 before being selected as president of Austin Peay State University. Dr. Hoppe was the first female president at both institutions and was later named president emeritus at Austin Peay.
Her visionary leadership and unyielding focus on student success guided Roane State to expand academic programs as well as its footprint within its 10-county service area. The college also experienced significant technological advancement during her tenure, positioning RSCC for long-term growth and innovation.
Dr. Hoppe's memorial service will be held in Chattanooga this Sunday. We are keeping her friends and family in our thoughts during this time.
For those who'd like to honor Dr. Hoppe's remarkable legacy, donations can be made to Roane State Foundation per her family's wishes. Details on how to give in her memory are available at roanestate.edu/sherryhoppe.
We kicked off the semester by giving back. 💙 To celebrate the grand opening of the Knox Regional Health Science Education and Simulation Center, seven students won $500 scholarships. Thank you to the generous donors who made it all possible!

A new generation of healthcare providers starts here. We recently celebrated the opening of the Knox Regional Health Science and Education Center. Thank you for making this project a reality. Our region needs more healthcare professionals, and this is just the start.
On day one, when someone calls 911, our students know what to do. 🚑 The simulators at the Knox Regional Health Science Education and Simulation Center prepare students to succeed far beyond the classroom. Thank you to every donor who made the center possible!
