@nfljules Either we make playoffs and lose out first game.. or we barely missed out. Either way our season is pretty much over. OL injuries are huge, we have an historical bad OL, defense is also inconsistent not as good as last year.

This Chargers team is just inconsistent and poorly coached. There’s no other way to look at it. They went 3-0 and then fumbled away the division, managed to scrape together a winning record and win big against the Steelers in primetime but get dog walked by the Jags the following week. This coaching staff has no idea how to adapt and go off script. If they’re not neck and neck or holding a lead then they cannot recover unless their QB manages to take the game into his own hands - something that’s impossible to do week in and out when you have a 7th string tackle and a 5th string RB as your starters. The injuries aren’t an excuse either, because the reality is that the front office didn’t invest where they should have. The line was weak outside of the two tackles, both of which are gone. They extended the worst starting centre in the league which is blatant malpractice. On paper the defense should be exceptional, but on grass & turf they are inconsistent and lack aggression. They’re not working together as a unit and they fail to execute on a near weekly basis. Minter is not a guru, he has great games and gets his ass kicked when the script starts failing. The personnel choices on both sides of the ball are suspect, and time management and playcalling is strange and confusing for everyone watching. You don’t go for it on 4 & 2, but you do on 4 & 7, and when the attempt is called back cause of a penalty you decide to punt it away despite being in your “most accurate kicker in NFL history”’s field goal range. At this point, I’m not sure what the Chargers should do. Herbert is teetering at the edge of injury every week behind this line, and the division is slowly slipping away from them. Best case scenario in my opinion is that Herbert stays healthy and gets a line in the offseason when his guys return. Outside of that, god knows.
