I really respect Peter. But beating Texas doesn’t change the Big Brother/Little brother dynamic between Texas and A&M. @Wildlaw406 It’s frustrating at times for sure-especially with those stubborn clients who are objectively wrong- but our duty is to COUNSEL clients. That duty includes educating the client and, oftentimes, saving them from themselves.

I don’t like the model of lawyering (or doctoring, or accounting, or any professioning) where you don’t explain things to the client, including explaining to them why what they found on the internet is wrong or only half right, or whatever. “Just trust me, and let me do my job” is no different in my mind than when parents say “Because I said so.” If you can’t explain it, you shouldn’t expect others to trust it. A license or certificate that allows a person to practice a particular profession is no guarantee that they actually know what they’re doing. Plus, explaining your thinking clarifies it. Huge benefits to the professional from being forced to explain to lay people why they think what they think.
