The 1-3-1 Half-Court Trap: 1. Force the offense to throw the lob pass over the top. 2. Active hands are more important than height. 3. Avoid allowing consecutive direct-line passes. Disrupt their rhythm early.

In my experience, the half court trap can be handled with the same 2-1-2 alignment I used against full court pressure. Keeping things simple & similar is helpful to players under pressure. A bigger, good player in the middle is needed. Catch, face up, look to pass weak side.

If your players don’t have a stride stop with an inside hand fake “in their bag,” I’d suggest adding it asap. A great solution for a small advantage against aggressive defenders.

Championship teams don’t get lucky. They take their vitamins. Attitude. Belief. Commitment. Discipline. Energy. Focus. Grit. Humility. Simple. Not easy. Which one does your team need most right now?

Jay Wright’s 1-2-2 was a chess move, not a gamble. Speed teams up, slow teams down, and strike when they least expect it
