“No on 23-02” is in debt $90,067.27. Unpaid pledges from the Renton Chamber of Commerce total $25,000, raising concerns. The Renton Chamber is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit & receives taxpayer funds from the City of Renton. Chamber members should be made aware of these findings.

“No on 23-02” received $81,873.52 in contributions and expenditures of $156,310.63 from only 17 contributions including the Washington Hospitality Association, Seattle Hospitality for Progress, Renton Chamber of Commerce and more.

RTWR has contributions totaling $104,954.29 and expenditures of $94,012.69 to date, and has received 188 contributions from individuals, unions and local organizations. These funds were mostly spent on gathering signatures – less than $25,000 was spent on the election itself.

Section 15 states “the Finance Department must establish and publish the initial minimum wage within 30 days of the effective date”. The City has until June 1, 2024 to provide notice. We'll work to ensure transparency & that the City supports those affected during transition.

Section 12 states, “within 180 days after the effective date, the City shall adopt rules and procedures to implement and ensure compliance”. The City has until Dec. 29, 2024 to adopt rules & shall “seek feedback from worker organizations and covered employers before finalizing”.

Section 3 states that “effective July 1, 2024, every large employer shall pay…the minimum wage rate in the City of Tukwila [$20.29]... adjusted for 2024 by the annual rate of inflation”. Businesses w/ 500+ employees will have to increase their minimum wage by July 1, 2024.

On Feb. 23, KCE finalized results for the Feb. Special Election. 23-02 has PASSED with 8,144 ballots (58.04%) voting YES -- and 5,888 (41.96%) voting NO. Out of 58,745 registered voters, 14,048 ballots were cast with a 23.91% voter turnout. bit.ly/2302-results for more info.
