@RWAtkinsonJr And i really like Oxford. Love going. The town has really invested in education over the past 10 years.

Louisiana is the biggest historic cultural melting pot in the South. It was born in diversity. My grandpa’s best childhood friend growing up was black. He told me, “We were all poor as shit growing up ..we didn’t subscribe to this white superiority bs in our area of rural South Louisiana. And we were looked down by Baton Rouge for speaking Cajun.”
Louisiana has its own stigmas. No one is debunking it. But Kiffin was right when parents came up to him to complain about Ole Miss’s entire brand and culture embracing the Confederacy. Out of state 5-stars weren’t running to Ole Miss. LSU doesn’t have that issue, and some of it contributes to Louisiana being a cultural melting pot. The fallout from this story tells me these old wounds haven't been fully healed.
English

@TigahPaul …..so did mine… you know you can just agree we don’t have that much difference.
English

@RWAtkinsonJr Yes. My fraternity had black members. Close friends today
English

@RWAtkinsonJr The entire fraternity system is pretty racist. Let's start there
English

I have said it on repeat.. Louisiana has its own stigmas.. The Voter Massacre was horrible among many examples. But LSU didn't romanticize and embrace the confederacy and Lost cause like Ole Miss. Ole Miss is on its own island on that one. I am actually shocked how much the of that subculture remains at Ole Miss and with it's fans/alums. I give the Ole Miss admin credit trying to cleanse the stigma but that subculture is still there.
English

@TigahPaul I guess I just don’t see how any of this makes it A) not racist and B) better than Mississippi. Mississippians are well aware of our past, but to act like Louisiana isn’t as guilty as well is just a lie and therefore you have no ground to stand on. Hope this helps
English

@RWAtkinsonJr Hell I didn't know the origins until it came up in a fucking LA Blue Cross/Blue Shield radio commercial in the 2000s after I graduated from LSU.
English

@RWAtkinsonJr No one thinks Confederacy when you hear Tigers. This is a red herring fallacy.
English

@TigahPaul Subconscious racism like having a mascot named after a civil war unit?
English

@michellelynnn94 So ole miss can’t escape its past but everyone else can? Stfu and sit down

Reminder: Pete Golding tried to use Sark’s past with alcoholism to convince Arch Manning to go to Alabama (Golding was DC there at the time).
It’s personal.

NEW: Steve Sarkisian on Ole Miss’ transfer portal practices and academic standards: “At Texas, we will only take 50% of a player’s academic credit hours. You may be a semester from graduating, but you’re going all the way back to 50% if you play here and want a degree. But at Ole Miss, they can take you. All you have to do is take basket weaving, and you can get an Ole Miss degree.” (via @MattHayesCFB) on3.com/news/steve-sar…

There’s a pattern I’ve noticed when it comes to Ole Miss and Oxford.
For years, when Ole Miss football was mediocre or irrelevant nationally, people loved romanticizing the place. They’d talk about how they’d always wanted to visit Oxford. They’d bring up William Faulkner, the food scene, the music, the charm of the town, the Grove, the pageantry. Ole Miss was treated like this fascinating Southern experience everyone wanted to see for themselves.
But the second Ole Miss became a real threat in college football, the second it started competing for top recruits, playoff spots, and legitimacy on the national stage the tone changed. Suddenly, people are reaching for every negative stereotype they can find, using the school’s history as ammunition when it becomes convenient competitively or to score points on social media.

So everyone was just waiting to tee off on Ole Miss huh

That was not the message you said in the meeting room. Everybody that was in there can vouch on this .

Probably the best wrap on the Kiffin saga...
"Kiffin will have his furniture, clothing and family moved to Baton Rouge but no doubt his soul will be left behind in Mississippi.
If he ever had one."

@MeganMakinMoney MS Gulf Coast born, raised, and still living here…. No it’s not 😂
English

🧐 228 is the area code for the gulf coast Mississippi. The gulf coast MS is basically an extension of Louisiana 🧐

@MatthewBerryTMR Matthew would you recommend 2 qb leagues?
English

Priority 1 on the waiver wire for those QB needy teams epically in superflex or 2 QB. He's going to be a borderline QB1 rest of the way - very bullish on his fantasy prospects.
