Two amazing women…what if they met? Excited to slip into Violetta’s skin tonight at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, after having sung Leonora in “Il Trovatore” at the @bay_staatsoper

Warm down with me from my dressing room at the Bayerische Staatsoper, before a performance of Leonora in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore!”

How delightful to bring some of my favourite songs to Rome, Paris and Vienna, some of my favourite cities! Strauss’ music grows with me as an artist and human, and I strive to perform these pieces each time from the point in life I am at in that moment.

We had a wonderful first performance of the Mahler 8 last night in Dallas, and I can’t wait to perform this important work again tonight and tomorrow with the @DallasSymphony!

This Wednesday, let’s talk about vocal fatigue…which can be a real bummer! 😂 Luckily, it is something I rarely experience, but here is what I would do if/when I do: 1) Take it seriously - what is your body telling you and what care is it asking for?

Can you do this exercise without too much sub-glotal pressure? That’s my challenge today!

I 💖 performing Leonora in “Il Trovatore,” but singing this role definitely has its challenges - including some high notes in certain parts that require a very clean onset. I am using this exercise in my dressing room to prep for tonight’s performance at the @bay_staatsoper.

@RWSing I love this Rachel!! Please tell me??? How long does it take you to learn roles well enough to sing them professionally?? It takes me months to learn one song well :)

Covering as a young artist can be such a useful and worthwhile experience…even if you don’t get to perform the role!
