It’s #StPatricksDay so we thought we’d share a famous Irish member of our Regiment - Patrick Cleburne. He enlisted in the Welsh Reg in 1846 but emigrated to America and joined the Confederate Army. He become Brigadier General but was killed in action leading his troops 30/11/1864

#Whatisitwednesday? This fantastic artefact is actually a piece of trench art – a lampshade made from a #WW1 German shell. It was made in Mesopotamia in 1918 and was brought back as a souvenir to the UK by a soldier of the South Wales Borderers.#trenchart #history

It’s the last day of the #SixNations so we decided to have a look through our rugby archive! Loved this photograph of the 1st Battalion, Royal Regiment of Wales’ rugby team in action against Pontypool RFC in 1988. Pte Evans 68 is making a break with the ball...#rugby #archive

#FlashbackFriday to a time of romantic gestures! Here's a sweetheart brooch, made for Lt Col Greenway DSO, 2nd Bn, SWB, for his wife during #WW1. These exquisite little replicas of cap badges became very popular and were worn by women to show their loved one was doing his bit.

It’s #InternationalWarAnimalDay, a time to honour all animals who served, suffered, and died in war. We will remember them. Pic shows draught horses Bill and Jean, who left the UK for France in 1914 and served throughout #WW1 with the South Wales Borderers.

It's #LoveYourPetDay, so here's our goat...again! This time it’s Taffy, regimental goat of the 1st Battalion, Royal Regiment of Wales. He received his Northern Ireland General Service medal from Lt Col Aitken, Commander of the Battalion, in Ballykelly between 1994 and 1996.#goat

For #blackandwhitewednesday we’ve found this lovely snap from #WW1. It’s from a collection of photographs belonging to Sgt. Harry Coates, 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment, and was taken in France in 1916. We love that the soldier in the centre has his accordion with him! #music

A wonderful photograph from our #archive captures a poignant moment in Normandy, 1944. Ptes English & Diggins, 2nd Bn, Mons Reg, fresh with the good news that they were heading home on leave, pause to say goodbye to Tpr Bulloch of the Royal Yorks Reg. #WW2 #SecondWorldWar #army
