Thinking about the systemic rot within Nigeria and the effort it would take to fix it makes me weary
Saving Nigeria will be at least 3x harder than the Chinese revolution.
At least they had a civilizational memory stretching back 5000 years and homogeneous population.
They didn't have an identity crises to go with their societal and economic problems.
Nigeria has all three.
Any leader who manages to forge a national identity from this clown show we have going on at the moment will go down in history and the shrewdest leader in history.

For the lovers of truth, this is the exact translation of what he said in English:
In the video, Ibrahim Traore is talking about a recent census his government conducted regarding young people from Burkina Faso who went to study in certain Arab countries.
He mentions that they counted over 800 individuals. What worries him is that no one knew they left the country. Even the embassies in those foreign countries had no idea they were there.
When he checked their files, he found out that every single one of them is studying Sharia, Islamic law, and Islamic jurisprudence. Not a single person out of the 800 is learning a practical trade or profession.
Traore questions their motives and asks if they plan to come back to apply Sharia law in Burkina Faso.
Because of this, he says it is very important to control who leaves the country. He declares that he will bring all these students back home. If anyone refuses to return, they will lose their citizenship and will no longer be considered Burkinabè.
He then addresses the local imams directly. He tells them that if they cannot teach the youth about Islam right there in the country, they should stop. He recognizes that many people are lured abroad by foreign funding.
To fix this, he promises that the government will create a budget to fund all local religions. Whether they are Catholics, Protestants, traditionalists, or Muslims, the state will find a formula to support them so they do not have to rely on foreign money.
He ends his speech by making it clear he will never allow this kind of foreign influence to continue. He even says that if anyone only supported him hoping for religious favoritism, they should withdraw their support immediately.

You know what I find particularly insulting?
The moment Africans begin to exert some measure of sovereignty and initiative, the colonizers are genuinely shocked.
In their minds, we're little more than ooga-booga apes who just so happen to live atop a land full of natural resources that they need.
Any form or organization we make to advance our own interests is dismissed as "Russian influence" or "China seeking to undermine Euro-American interests"
They don't see us as people with our own dreams and hopes.
They believe we don't have the capacity to even think for ourselves.
This is why I grow somber when I realize the depth of our struggle. It will be a fight to the death on every front. Politically, socially, economically and militarily.
They will use every tool in their box of tricks and even invent new tools to ensure we never wake up.
China they can bitterly swallow and accept... because at least it's a 5000-year old civilization.
But Africa?
They will drop nukes on Nairobi, Lagos, or Pretoria rather than see us climb out of the hole they keep suppressing us into.
They will force us to fight our own kind-their puppets.
Because A sovereign, militarily strong and politically awakened Africa will shatter the last vestiges of their worldview.
They can never accept it so they will try to end us.
But we will end them first.

Africa is not being underestimated by anyone. That is a dangerous misconception that I once had.
What is actually happening is that Africa is being deliberately underreported and suppressed from mainstream global news cycles because some powerful people need to keep it a secret that their dominance over the global economy as we know it is entirely built on extracting 100 for the price of 0.5 from Africa.
If that coup in Niger had never happened for example, we would never have known that France's famously cheap and plentiful nuclear energy which makes up 70% of its energy mix, and which it sells to the rest of Europe, was cheap and plentiful because Orano spent decades bending Niger over a barrel, paying the country 50 euro cents/kg for Yellowcake uranium when the market price was between €150 and €200/kg.
We didn't know this - but France and its EU collaborators absolutely did, which is why they're sponsoring EU resolutions condemning the AES every 5 minutes. They know exactly what they've lost!
The only people underestimating Africa are Africans - because we have no fucking clue what we are sitting on and we still get most of our information from predatory western sources. Don't get it twisted - everybody outside Africa who matters fully understands what Africa is, which is why Ethiopian Airlines keeps recording a new record profit every year, and it is building the world's largest airport in Bishoftu. Most of that traffic is not made up of Africans.
People from around the world don't stampede in such numbers into a continent that they "underestimate." We're the dummies chasing visas to go work for gold elsewhere while we inherited the entire fucking gold mine.

Reading the mass Arab crash out in the comments of the tweet I'm quoting makes me feel a bit privileged to be African. I thought we were the people with the world's worst identity crisis, but it seems that title belongs to Gulf Arabs.
They are typing every alphabet of anti-black racism they can muster from their souls because an African leader rightly called out some of his people for going to study Wahhabi ideology in Saudi Arabia that has been linked to terror pipelines. Knowing fully well that
a) Said Wahhabi nonsense was literally created by the CIA after Nixon's petrodollar deal with Saudi Arabia, which created American-backed foreign destabilisation organisations like the Muslim Youth World League - thus Wahhabism does not even represent most Saudis, let alone Arab Muslims, and
b) Ibrahim Traoré himself is a Muslim, and he is not speaking badly of Islam, but of a specific type of weaponised, CIA-backed pseudo-Islam that has caused misery to millions of Muslims around the world.
These absolute dumbasses think that something Richard Nixon's CIA created is their religious identity!
I'm never going to complain about Africans again.
