A Kirklees food business supplying halal products pleaded guilty to 27 food hygiene offences after Environmental Health Officers uncovered shocking conditions during an inspection. What inspectors found included: 🐀 Wet rat droppings throughout the warehouse. 🐀 A decaying rat carcass beneath stored products. 🐦 Bird droppings, including on food storage bags. 🪰 Flies stuck to sticky boards. 🥫 Food containers contaminated with debris. ❄️ Condensation dripping onto stored food. 🐔 Chicken that was more than a year past its use-by date, with no traceability records. 📋 No proper temperature monitoring records. 🧼 Dirty food premises and equipment. 👨‍🍳 Staff lacking adequate food hygiene knowledge. The conditions were considered so serious that a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice was issued, forcing the closure of Unit 8. Environmental Health Officers also supervised the disposal of unfit food, and the company's approval to manufacture doner kebabs and store products of animal origin was withdrawn. This isn't about religion—it's about food safety, hygiene, transparency, and protecting consumers. Every food business, regardless of who owns it or what products it supplies, should be held to the same high standards. Do you think food businesses found guilty of this many hygiene offences should be allowed to reopen and continue supplying the public after making improvements, or should the penalties be much tougher?

It is, particularly for anyone who knew Ann, utterly horrific to know she died a violent death. I am devastated to hear this news. Ann was strong but she had the softest heart. She was taken from us. Rest in peace lovely Ann.
