To elaborate even further, the line of storms is generally weakening, but still plenty of storm fuel out there to keep these things robust. It's April after all, so we don't let our guard down on incoming storms. Hail possible, but odds are you won't see any. Tornado parameters not as favorable as last night, but we'll be pay attention anyway. Additional storms later tonight should be sub-severe.

Some details on the severe thunderstorm watch just issued. Expires at 1:00 am. A couple of tornadoes not out of the question somewhere in this huge area highlighted in yellow. Scattered hail up to ping-pong ball size possible as well as some scattered gusts to 70 mph.

10:08 pm, Non-severe brief downpours have bubbled up right on schedule in NW Middle TN. These will move NE. We're going to see if we can get a weather balloon up out ahead of them and see the status of the cap up around 10,000 ft. Your donation money put to good use! Thank you!

Because we don't withhold information, we'll pass along that SPC has nudged the hatched area eastward and now includes us. This hatching is used to indicate where there's a slightly higher risk of EF-2+ tornadoes. This does not affect our messaging at all. The forecast still is what it is. Have 2+ more ways to get warnings overnight and be ready to act.

5:35 pm, current sitch. Line of storms is about halfway through Arkansas. We expect this line to continue our way. Arrival time still in the 10:00 pm neighborhood, give or take. Damaging straight-line winds and isolated tornadoes possible. We'll be watching it all the way in.

12:31 pm, still looking okay. Stay connected, but as the line of storm approaches, it's non-severe *currently.* This could change. But, I'm feeling pretty optimistic.

@NashSevereWx yall are typically good at pinpointing the severity of these types of storms. Would you say you have “anxiety” at all for this one?

@NashSevereWx This is amazing new knowledge. Heard a boom just turns out tree in the backyard fell.

If you hear of reports of loud "booms," it may be cryoseismic activity aka frost quakes. If you're new to the area, don't worry, they're harmless. These occur when liquid water quickly freezes and expands in the soil or bedrock. We have an ideal setup for this given the amount of runoff we had during the winter storm and the very cold temperatures in place now. -NWS Nashville

NWS Nashville: "Wind gusts between 15-25 mph will be likely today and through most of the day tomorrow. These winds will exacerbate trees and powerlines that are weighed down with ice. Coupling this with a big drop in temperatures tonight means a flash freeze will be possible. Any areas of slush or partial melting that may occur today will rapidly re-freeze tonight, so please use extreme caution. Travel is discouraged as road conditions will remain treacherous."
