When Ben says “I would be an ally, but people are so meeeeean,” he really means that he values his own comfort over the lives of vulnerable people, but knows that’s he’s wrong so he’s trying to make his hateful behavior their fault.

This seems like bullshit to me. What I have seen, constantly and repeatedly, is bigots pretending that the mere mention of something they don’t like is oppressive. So they receive an innocuous sentence like “my kid uses they/them pronouns” 1/

Some have legit beef, such as you can have as an American in a world of 8 billion.
