He knows what he is and he's unselfishly thinking of Maelle's safety, albeit at the expense of the whole world (Versos canvas). Such a hard burden to bear. I haven't done it yet but I heard if you go with Maelle, the ending is even worse lol.

But I understand wanting one i think it's perfect though because like all things in life nothing ever is perfect there's weight made in every descision you make. That and happy ending/plot armor char's are so overdone.

@Rabaroni_ @Deadbeat_Tizz @TylorHepnerArt I truly believe that if Gustave knew all the context of the canvas, maelle, and her family she would definitely make Maelle leave the canvas especially considering the longer she stays in the canvas the more her body starts dying

@MattSagan117 @Deadbeat_Tizz @TylorHepnerArt He definitely could have. But that wouldn't make for a good ending imo. The devs wanted you to not have a clear winner with the final descision in the game. That option if Gustave was still alive would have never been written and probably would have made the ending worse.

@ClocktownIrony @TylorHepnerArt Yeah convincing not to destroy the canvas and existing as a world that maelle can always come back to would be something I see Gustave doing But not destroying the canvas though. I don't see him doing that at all. also forcing baby verso to keep painting would be wierd.

@Rabaroni_ @TylorHepnerArt So when the team learns of the truth, Gustave sees Maelle has an ACTUAL family, waiting for her and end this sick cycle. He'd still be taking down the paintress, stopping the cycle, and he'd be helping Maelle. Maybe even convince the painters it doesnt have to be destroyed MAYBE

@ClocktownIrony @TylorHepnerArt I'm also of the opinion that he would rather live his days off with maelle. His whole goal was to stop the paintress from gommaging again and if he was there when they achieved it knowing all they know, he would have acted just like Lune in the end.

@Rabaroni_ @TylorHepnerArt Gustave placed Maelle above the mission multiple times. There’s definitely arguments that he would make the hard decision to force her out of the canvas.

Now i understand why Expedition 33 is considered GOTY by many. The story, gameplay, atmosphere, and connection to the characters are top notch. Each Act ending had great twists that made me wanna know more. Insane game if you haven't played it. Do it ASAP 9.9/10
