@queeraye @discette4 @angryaboutbikes The fact you drive a lot doesn't qualify you to talk about roadworks logistics. But thanks for the insight that that is indeed how many think in this country.

The UK attitude towards “roadworks” baffles me. Never have I known a population so determined in their right to drive a vehicle everywhere while being so hostile to the actual facilitation of that occurring.

Imagine a white supremacist went on a stabbing spree targeting people of colour in London, but before that, he stabbed his white friend, then jumped on public transport for an hour to head to a multicultural area of the city.

@RabbleRousah @istrianprincess @cezthesocialist A. So not antisemitic - it cheapens the term antisemitism to apply it to things that are just “weird and unnecessary” B. Ironic talking about “no idea” but, the wheels were in motion for the Holocaust years before 1940. People draw comparisons early to avoid the death camps.

@Reginald484887 @istrianprincess @cezthesocialist A. It would be a bit weird and unnecessary yeah? B. What's happening in Gaza is just nothing like Rwanda in '94 nor Germany in 1940-45. I'm sure the victims of both these genocides appreciate being lazily tokenised by westerners who have no idea about any of these regions.

@ProbablyNice @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist If they said exactly that, yes. But they didn't did they? Moshe Ya'alon said the ideology of right-wingers in Israel reminded him of Nazi racial theories. A completely different claim that 'Israel treats Palestinians like Nazis treated Jews'.

@ProbablyNice @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist In certain aspects & events comparable? Sure. The original statement was "Israel treats Palestinians like the Nazis treated the Jews". That's an insanely a-historical statement which downplays the nature of Nazism. Downplaying nazism is effectively antisemitic.

@RabbleRousah @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist They are not equivalent, no two historical events are, but they are easily comparable. Numerous former Israeli officials have made the comparison themselves, such as former def. minister Moshe Ya'alon, former head of Mossad Tamir Pardo, former top general Amiram Levin.

@DifferentN56366 @ProbablyNice @cezthesocialist The terms being used reflect ignorance about the situaton in Palestine. So how can we hope to act and help people there if we're compromising on that? The nazi comparison specifically is clearly forced, the obviously antisemtic component to that hasn't been answered here.

@ProbablyNice @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist Then describe it as that, I won't argue. But don't force a historical example which borders on holocaust revisionism. Germany 1942-45 every spare iota of material and personell to kill jews 24/7 as fast as possible. That's plainly not Gaza.

@RabbleRousah @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist I am talking specifically about making the area unfit for human life. Gaza is a lunar landscape, it is completely bereft of anything resembling civilzation. It is completely unlivable, and this was done intentionally to kill or coerce palestinians to leave their land.

@ProbablyNice @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist Comparing Gaza to the Jewish Ghettos gives the game away about how slop this comparison is. The Warsaw Ghetto exterminated nearly its entire 460,00 population in 2 years. Gaza 70,000 of 2.1 million over 2 years. Which is awful but just not comparable while staying factual.

@RabbleRousah @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist the intentional creation of conditions not suited for human life, comparing Gaza to jewish ghettos for example, the plans to ethnically cleanse the population, the jews to madagascar under the nazis and the palestinians to Egypt, Jordan or even Somaliland.

@RabbleRousah @DifferentN56366 @cezthesocialist Upsetting jews is not antisemitic. Whether they like it or not has no bearing on whether it is true. What is true is that Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B'Tselem all conclude that Israel is commiting genocide. This makes a Nazi comparison quite reasonable.

@cezthesocialist @istrianprincess To most westerners yes, which is why its an ill-informed comparison. Israel doesn't have millions in forced labour camps and gas chambers, it's genocide has been very different and more targeted (at gaza). Don't palestinians deserve an accurate telling of their situation?

@RabbleRousah @istrianprincess because that’s the obvious example of another state that committed genocide to most people

@OlegFilimonovic @Frances_Coppola The right brings up and we (rightly) point out its irrelevant if some palestinians are homophobic or antisemtic, we can still march for their human rights regardless of their politics, but this runs out with jews?

@Frances_Coppola It's a difficult one because if I were to get out on the streets in support of British Jews, I know for a fact that a significant proportion of the people I am defending will support genocide. It's difficult to muster much enthusiasm for this.
