@journalautism Thank you for publishing my research, and to all those who have contributed @ipuzzo1 @aifbw
May this be of benefit to the many autistic people struggling to be heard 🙏

@lifeoflottie @3dancingfeet Hi Charlotte, I’m the author and autistic, I did this research to prove what autistic people already know, but have not been heard. Some people just won’t listen unless they have ‘scientific evidence’ this gives those people what they need to finally hear us!
English

@3dancingfeet They could have just spoke to the autistic community and heard lived experiences, rather than do an experiment. I would say I am more thoughtful about other peoples lived experiences than most neurotypical people I know.

A NEW paper in the journal 'Autism' flips the script on the oft-said stereotype that autistic people have difficulty imagining how others feel.
This is why we have *research* - updating our evidence-led approaches in education is essential 😉

@Noahsasson @drstevenkapp @HRadders Thank you for liking my study 🙏 Please see the supplementary material for a description on how the task was constructed, we used 2 autistic (1 male, 1 female) and 2 non-autistic (1 male, 1 female) narrators.
English

@drstevenkapp @HRadders Okay no worries, we can contact them. Very interesting study, just weird that the autistic narrator part isn’t detailed at all

Non-autistic "participants found it significantly harder to track autistic narrators’ emotions compared to non-autistic narrator’s emotions, esp. when viewing clips of narrators feeling happy and sad...findings support the double empathy problem".

"Future research should concentrate on how to increase empathy among the normative population and reduce the responsibility and burden of autistic people having to fit in."
The empathy deficit of neurotypicalism.
