With respect to Iran, Trump is like a boxer who is knocked out in Round 1 and decides to try again in Round 2. Iran needs to persuade his corner not to be so stupid. How to do that? Iran and her backers (Russia and China) will be looking at a new security architecture replacing the US once this is over. I wouldn’t attack my future allies, beyond eliminating US bases in their territory. I think Iran’s logical response to US aggression will be to shell Israel with hypersonic missiles until they scream at Trump to back down.

This is an emotional reaction to having lost the war and being painted into a corner As I wrote in my earlier note, this suits Iran, to which we can add Russia and China. Russia has oil to sell, and China’s strategic reserves are nearly full. They can sit this out and watch “Vietnam ll” leading to the US’s expulsion from the Persian Gulf.
