The Flynn Network Is In Trouble

There is one more that I’d like to honor today. Unfortunately, I can’t find a picture for him. SSG O’Brien. Since I can’t find a picture, I’ll just tell you about him. We were in Arabic class together every day for 11 months. We would always joke and just shoot the shit. Near the end of that class he came in showing off his newborn baby girl. The joy on his face showing off that little girl was indescribable. About 3 months after that class ended we both deployed to Iraq. His unit was tasked with providing security for my unit as we were leaving Iraq. On a corner that I had patrolled almost daily in an area that we were leaving because “it was secure”, his vehicle was struck by a vehicle borne IED. Everyone in that Stryker died instantly. This was an area that I had patrolled hundreds of times. Did I miss something? Could I have prevented this? Am I part of the reason that beautiful little girl will never remember meeting her father? I hate that I don’t have a picture to share with you but I searched for hours and came up with nothing. R.I.P. brother
