Very excited (and a little bit overwhelmed) to be elected as a Fellow of @AcadSocSci. Thanks to my colleagues who nominated, refereed and voted for me to join your ranks. I learned yesterday that it is quite a process! Congrats also to impressive colleagues also elected today.

Last night, JMI hosted its latest Policy Talks event at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music exploring how government action can promote gender equity in the workplace. As the largest employer in the Southern Hemisphere and the biggest employer of women in Australia, the NSW Government plays an essential role in shaping equitable working lives.
We were honoured to have The Hon @CourtneyHoussos MLC, NSW Minister for Finance, Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement, and Natural Resources, provide the keynote for the evening. Her insights highlighted the critical role government plays in advancing gender equity and creating inclusive workplaces.
The discussion drew from the JMI report “Building a more equitable future of work for women in NSW: Opportunities for government action”, authored by JMI Policy Challenge Grant winners Professor @ElizabethHill00 , Professor @Raecooper1 AO and their team from the University of Sydney.
Alongside Professors Cooper and Hill, the event also featured insights from Dr Annie Pettitt, who shared concrete case studies and policy approaches from her work at NSW Treasury. The event was expertly hosted by Jane Reynaud, Executive Director for JMI Futures.
Thank you to all policymakers, researchers and other experts who participated in this important conversation and stay tuned for a recap of the conversation on the JMI website in the coming days.
