Not only do I have a client that didn't pay me last year, they just sent me a 1099 (in MARCH) showing they paid me the full amount they owe me. How the heck do I fix this when they won't return my emails? #help #WritingCommmunity #TaxTwitter

@ambernoelle Pump them full of protein and fat before their morning meds. Eggs with bacon, etc. It won't make them hungry later, but it'll give them the energy they need for the day.

@banikaur1997 *our branding resonates with target markets including millennials"
English

@realfrugalmogul Five times too much, unless there's a cultural tradition with family pressure and the family is paying for it.
English

@stefanpalios @MichLovesMoney That you have to sink a lot of time and money into websites, branding, and social media to be successful.
English

@lottyburns I worked for Social Security for years and had to explain pensions to people every week. Now I have 200+ bylines in Investopedia, Money, Bankrate, etc. My roster's pretty full but I could make room for the right client.
English

@TreadLightly_RE @OneSickVet I'm so sorry you're gonna make $600. I'm almost as much of a life ruiner as when you made me rage quit!
English

@OneSickVet Ally. I like the interface and its regularly a solid % (currently 3.3%)
Except for the $15K currently parked at Chase because @RaeHartleyBeck finally wore me down to get the bank sign up bonus there 😅
English

@veefrugalfox $18k that isn't earmarked for payments in the next 12 months. But we only use ~40% of our income.
If SHTF we:
1) have a car and RV we could sell
2) $30k+ unreimbursed from HSA
3) can downsize house to $0 mort & $400k cash
3) $180k+ in Roth conts
4) $300k+ in ret. to cash out

@cmclymer When you want to polar plunge but you can't make yourself fully commit 😅 don't have to be pushed in if the ice does it for you!
English

Makes absolutely no damn sense.
Washingtonian Problems@WashProbs
The ice is visibly no longer solid, what was the point of getting on it…
English

@Humanheadhunter I hate it when they try to sound like they want me to write for their outlet when in reality they want me to write about their outlet in my work for my actual clients. . . Not cool
English

@nursekelsey If you don't tell your loved ones your desired disposition and don't have money set aside to pay for it, you are unintentionally being cruel as your final act on this earth.
English

@MoneyJrod Or because you "need" it to drive in snow. Somehow my $9k Leaf can make it to lots only $30k+ crossovers/SUVs/trucks can get to. 🙄
English

@kaitarford But what if we're a freelancer who writes about taxes and is cheap AF? 😅

@MMarquit Any tips on how to deal with a client who still hasn't paid me since June and will probably send me a 1099 for the money they didn't pay me?
English

Anyway, pay attention to where your 1099s should be coming from. Realize you might have double-reported income. Consult a tax professional. And plan accordingly.
If you have a minute, here's what I wrote about this subject: mirandamarquit.com/what-i-wish-my…
English

It's the end of the year, and many #freelancers can expect to start receiving 1099s. Unfortunately, for many of us, that means double-reported income.
Thanks to the 1099-K, there's a good chance your clients don't need to send you a 1099-NEC. But they probably will. A 🧵👇
