Freelancers: What are the biggest misconceptions about freelancing?

@lottyburns I worked for Social Security for years and had to explain pensions to people every week. Now I have 200+ bylines in Investopedia, Money, Bankrate, etc. My roster's pretty full but I could make room for the right client.

Do I know of any freelance writers who know about pensions looking for some work?

@veefrugalfox $18k that isn't earmarked for payments in the next 12 months. But we only use ~40% of our income. If SHTF we: 1) have a car and RV we could sell 2) $30k+ unreimbursed from HSA 3) can downsize house to $0 mort & $400k cash 3) $180k+ in Roth conts 4) $300k+ in ret. to cash out

If you're a freelancer or self employed, don't bother filing taxes on your own. Hire an accountant.

Anyway, pay attention to where your 1099s should be coming from. Realize you might have double-reported income. Consult a tax professional. And plan accordingly. If you have a minute, here's what I wrote about this subject: mirandamarquit.com/what-i-wish-my…
