Me: Marriage isn't everything. Jesus is everything. Online people: You just aren't married, or hate your spouse. Me: Nope, I've been married for 23 years to a man I love, Me: Having kids aren't everything. Jesus is everything. Online people: You just want your life to yourself. You're selfish. Everyone should have more kids! Me: No, I have 6 kids that I adore. I'm so grateful for the life God has given me. But Christianity isn't some religious get-rich-quick scheme. These gifts are good, and they're hard, because life is hard. Jesus is everything. Jesus is everything. Jesus is everything. Rich, poor, married, single, kids, no kids. All of those fall under the Christian life. All of it is a loss compared to Christ. God calls us to different vocations and he is faithful in all of them. And there's this push within church circles now, staring down these birth rates, and marriage rates, and getting scared, and making these weird statements. Twisting the gospel won't get us what we want. Teach them true Christian freedom found in Christ alone, and how to really love their neighbors, and the rest will follow. Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness. Don't bypass that because it feels efficient, and straight to the point. It's bypassing the gospel.

Apparently, it’s Homecoming Night. As usual, the young men are looking classy dressed in their suits, and the young women are looking trashy dressed in a few insufficient scraps of fabric. How did this ever become normalized?

@howertonjosh We almost fell into this trap. Went to a church, then "shopped around", and ended up back there. We learned a lot in the process, but also felt kinda dumb. 😅

In their (futile) search for a perfect church, a lot of people never settle down and enjoy a good one.

Public schools: "Memorize these 1,000 sight words and guess the rest from pictures!" Classical homeschoolers: "Here are 44 phonemes. Now you can read anything in the English language." One creates dependent readers. One creates independent thinkers. Choose wisely.
