BlackRock applied for a Bitcoin Spot ETF on June 15, 2023, when the price of Bitcoin was around $30K. Today, the price has reached ~$40K, a 25% increase since the BlackRock news. If the SEC unexpectedly rejects the Bitcoin Spot ETF, the price drop is uncertain, but a hypothetical 20% decrease would bring BTC to around $32K, still higher than pre-BlackRock news. Long-term, a rejection is unlikely to impact Bitcoin's trend, as the SEC has been denying it for a decade, yet Bitcoin has consistently grown. What if the Bitcoin Spot ETF is approved? The answer depends on several unpredictable factors: 1- The amount of cash waiting on Wall Street to invest in Bitcoin. 2- The percentage of funds from stocks, bonds, and gold moving into Bitcoin for diversification. 3- The number of people selling Bitcoin to buy Bitcoin Spot ETF, though this is considered less significant. 4- The number of GBTC investors switching to Grayscale Bitcoin Spot ETF, having waited for this opportunity. Bitcoin's future price will depend on supply and demand. Several companies have shared hypotheses: 1️⃣ Demand Side: Coinshare shows continuous investment in Bitcoin for 9 weeks and high trading volume on CME, indicating significant institutional interest. Galaxy estimates $14 billion in the first year, $27 billion in the second, and $39 billion in the third year for the Bitcoin Spot ETF, a fraction of the $48 trillion managed by financial funds. If so, Bitcoin's price could rise 74% to $60K USD by January 2025. Coinshare predicts ~10% of investment firms might invest 1% in Bitcoin, leading to a price around $58K USD. Glassnode estimates ~$70 billion inflow (10% from S&P 500 index funds, 5% from gold funds). With each $1 investment potentially increasing market cap by ~$3, Bitcoin's market cap could grow 27%, leading to a price of about $50,546.
