@ausar_the @YBankole02 Ye, it still has the wide skull and snout of a tyrannosaur for horizontal stress but its skull is also vertically deeper and more squared off like an abelisaur’s to withstand greater vertical stress as well. I figured the carcharodontosaurian robust chin would also good for that

@Raging_Hira @YBankole02 Your idea involves strangulation and holding onto a struggling prey item. If anything, a tyrannosaurid’s craniodental anatomy would be better for that than a carch’s due to its stronger bite and more robust teeth/skull.

@ausar_the @YBankole02 I see, yeah that makes sense. Though I will maintain that the creature I’m trying to design is more well adapted to hunting massive quarry like sauropods than their Tyrannosaurus rex-like ancestors, with a different jaw structure for it

@Raging_Hira @YBankole02 They could run prey down better, but that doesn’t mean they preferred hadrosaurs over sauropods if both were available as prey. If anything, sauropods would’ve been slower prey than hadrosaurs, even at equal body masses.

@ausar_the @YBankole02 Their jaws are shaped similarly to abelisaurs/carcharodontosaurs to take higher stress associated with grasping the necks of their sauropod-adjacent prey, choking them out

@ausar_the @YBankole02 I unfortunately don’t have that many good pictures of the full body, but these tyrannosauroids are essentially kaiju, dwarfing even most tyrannosaurus rex specimens with the largest nearing the sizes of Vastatosaurus from Peter Jackson’s King Kong

@ausar_the @YBankole02 I thought they were both more into hadrosaurs than anything? 🤨
