The recent spread of foot and mouth disease (serotype SAT 1) beyond its historical African range, in previously disease-free countries, including those in Southern Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is concerning. It underscores how quickly animal disease can cross borders even in regions that have been historically disease free. Early detection, transparent reporting and strong Veterinary Services remain our best defence. Investing in surveillance, diagnostics and vaccination is key to reducing future risks and protecting livelihoods. Read our full statement: woah.org/en/woah-calls-…

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
The health of humans, animals and the environment are woven together inextricably. We cannot protect one without protecting all three. This demands a One Health approach. That’s why @WHO, @FAO and @WOAH formed the tripartite in 2010, which became the Quadripartite in 2022 when @UNEP joined. At the One Health summit today, I was pleased to announce that we are extending the term of the One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP) until April 2027. Thank you President @EmmanuelMacron and the Government of France for convening the summit. who.int/news/item/07-0…

Det har vært mye fugleinfluensa hos villfugl i vinter. Selv om dette nå ser ut til å avta, har det likevel vært nye påvisninger av H5N1 hos svaner i Rogaland og Agder i mars 🦢🦠. Ny statusrapport publisert fra Veterinærinstituttet i dag: vetinst.no/nyheter/framle…

World Health Organization (WHO)@WHO

Twice a year, WHO brings together experts to review global #influenza data and issue recommendations on the composition of flu vaccines. Why does this matter? National vaccine regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical companies use these recommendations to develop, produce and license vaccines for the following season. Know more: 🔗 bit.ly/4sdIZ5Q
