Also ever since the Homelander debacle I just no faith in people be able understand the characters they’re watching even when a show that does tend to overcorrect and spoon feed its audiences is beating them over the head with why Homelander isn’t the badass they all thought he was, people are just dumb man lol

There’s an argument to be made where audiences demand a little or maybe too much in terms of character and writers tend to overcorrect and it all just becomes messy when sometimes you just need a bad guy who does bad things and the good guy stops him and that’s literally it

I think my favourite thing about these movies is that it doesn’t try to make the villains look cool, sympathetic or try to redeem them in anyway they’re just evil till the very end and they don’t try to be anything more than that and in today’s day and age that’s just so refreshing and simple lol

Thinking a little more about Obsession in my headcannon it’s kind of a metaphor for arranged marriages especially the old school kind of arranged marriage where families raise their daughters to be married off and nothing else and the idea that a girl exists purely to “love you” to like what you like, to do what you want to do and to be yours and nothing else, to the point where Nikki almost stops functioning when Bear isn’t around because she has no real purpose or personality or her own and yeah…it’s really weird and unsettling lol

The thing is he barely knew her and had crafted this perfect image of her in his head and wanted her to love him before he actually knew anything about her so really for all he knew this is what she would’ve been like if she actually loved him and the wish just expedited those emotions and feelings, granted the film does make it clear that an entity has taken over and the real Nikki is still in there trying to make her way out but Bear knows that if the real Nikki does surface she won’t “love” him anymore and ultimately that’s not what he wants
