the mechanism here is that by isolating you converge & plateau on your own priors, and new ideas become harder to generate because the sample/recombination space narrows
by allowing external interactions you inject sufficient entropy which expands the recombination space
personally my best ideas often come from random interactions/inputs rather than self-directed exploration
this is also why sceniuses work!

Terence Tao spent a year at the Institute for Advanced Study - no teaching, no random events of committees, just unlimited time to think. But after a few months, he ran out of ideas. Terence thinks that mathematicians and scientists need a certain level of randomness and inefficiency to come up with new ideas.

@Syntetica_ai Unfortunately finishing your work before 7.5 hours doesn't necessarily mean you can go home, you just get more work
So no matter how efficient you are it's kinda pointless to finish early if you aren't doing remote

@RahulU123 This is the productivity trap. The goal isn't to maximize focus hours. It's to minimize work hours. AI should be helping with that.

Max focus for me is around 9-10 hours for something I'm not emotionally invested in (e.g. working for someone else on a boring product)
I think anymore than 10 hours is pointless; productivity decreases rapidly

I got to the office today at 8 AM and left after 10:30 PM. That's 14.5+ hours of intense, focused work. No breaks except the restroom. No food. I was so locked in I forgot to eat, and I didn't want to stop the momentum when I remembered. I wasn't born with the ability to do this. I built the endurance over time. No different than someone training for a sport. Time to eat some food, get some sleep, and do it again tomorrow.
