After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. Am I wrong for giving my delivery driver a bad rating over her outfit? 🤔 Picture this: You order dinner, pay the fees, leave a tip, and wait for your food to arrive. You go out to meet the driver, and she pulls up looking like she literally just rolled out of bed. Tonight, my delivery driver stepped out of her car wearing full pajama pants, a hair bonnet, and slippers. She was carrying bags from multiple places and a drink, casually shuffling across the wet asphalt in her slippers like this was just a quick trip to her own mailbox. Listen, I am not saying you need to show up in business casual to deliver food. But if you are clocking in to work, handling people's meals, and meeting customers face-to-face at their homes, shouldn't there be a bare minimum standard of presentation? I ended up leaving a low rating because, honestly, what am I rewarding here? The slippers on the wet pavement? The fact that she got dressed half-asleep five minutes before picking up my food? If looking halfway presentable is too much to ask, maybe this isn't the right gig. Am I being too harsh, or has the standard for delivery drivers completely disappeared?

BREAKING: Bahrain just got hit. Not a base. Not a military installation. The refinery. The Bahrain Petroleum Company, BAPCO, is burning. Iranian missiles and drones reached the facility on March 5 despite Bahraini air defenses intercepting 75 missiles and 123 drones in the same wave. The intercept count is the highest single-day figure for any Gulf state in this war. The fires are confirmed by video. The fires are real. Understand what BAPCO is. It is not an abstraction. It is the refinery that processes virtually all of Bahrain’s domestic petroleum output, sitting on an island of 800 square kilometers that also hosts Naval Support Activity Bahrain, the headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet. The Fifth Fleet commands all US naval operations across the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean. The commanding officer of the Fifth Fleet wakes up every morning approximately twelve kilometers from the refinery that Iran just struck. If you wanted to design a single target that communicates simultaneously to the global energy market, the US Navy, and every Gulf monarchy watching this war, you would design BAPCO. Iran did not need to destroy the facility to win the targeting decision. The mechanism of the strike is verification cost inversion applied to oil infrastructure rather than shipping insurance. An oil refinery that has been struck once by Iranian missiles in an active war is a refinery that no insurance underwriter, no shipping counterparty, and no downstream buyer can treat as a reliable facility without repricing every contract that touches it. The fires that Al Jazeera is broadcasting tonight are doing more work in the oil derivatives market than in the actual refinery. The facility will be repaired. The actuarial fact of its vulnerability cannot be unrepaired. Bahrain has absorbed attacks since February 28. The kingdom hosts the only US naval headquarters in the Gulf theater. It is a country of 1.5 million people on an island that cannot be defended in depth because it has no depth. Its air defense systems are among the most capable in the region and they intercepted nearly 200 incoming projectiles in a single day. Six of those projectiles reached the refinery anyway. The interceptors cost orders of magnitude more per round than the drones they are stopping. The attrition arithmetic that has governed every Gulf state’s position in this war has now been demonstrated at the petroleum infrastructure level. Iran does not need to shut BAPCO down. It needs to establish that BAPCO can be reached whenever Iran chooses to reach it. That threshold was crossed on March 5. Bahrain now knows it. The Fifth Fleet headquarters twelve kilometers away knows it. Every energy trading desk that has been pricing Gulf risk since February 28 is repricing it again tonight. The fires at BAPCO are the visible part. When a $490.88 Bill Gets a $0.00 Tip. I don’t usually make posts like this, but last night was one for the books. You ever have a dinner where the service completely ruins the whole experience? That was us. For a final Check Total of $490.88, we received one of the worst service performances I've ever witnessed From the heavy sighs the second we sat down to the eye-rolling when we asked about the menu, our waitress acted like we were a massive inconvenience. She took our order like a chore, snapped when I politely asked for silverware, and basically tossed the plates down. The way she hovered with the check before we were even halfway done eating made it clear she just wanted us gone. And based on the $98.18 20% tip suggestion at the bottom, she was expecting a massive gratuity. The verdict? We paid the $490.88 check total but left $0.00 for the tip. Good service earns a good tip; bad service earns nothing.

@ronsterd89 When leaving 0 tip on a charge, always draw a few lines through the 'Tip' line, don't leave it blank, or write NONE, and carry the total to the bottom line. The bottom line is what you are responsible for. If the server adds in a tip, it is already crossed out . .

My husby and I went out to dinner last night, and the bill came out to $200. I left a $50 tip on the table, thinking that was pretty reasonable. But the waiter looked at it and flat-out refused to take it. ​He told us that if we weren’t willing to leave at least $85, we shouldn’t be eating out in the first place. ​I was honestly caught off guard. I felt embarrassed sitting there, like we’d done something wrong. We weren’t trying to be cheap or disrespectful — I genuinely thought $50 was a fair tip for that bill.
